I wear a mask indoors. A few times there have been people coughing/sneezing and I was very glad they were masked also!

Your anxiety is not anyone else's problem. Your decision not to have groceries selected for pickup or delivery is not our problem. Your own N95 is quite effective for an adult. If you want one and cannot find one, you're not even trying and that's not anyone else's problem. If you're not sure about the fit because you haven't been professionally fit tested, that's what a tight fitting cloth mask overtop helps with.

You're a pretty rotten person. You know, years ago, right here on this forum, I made fun of a woman's new boots (she had posted a photo proudly) because they were more sensible than chic. She replied that she hoped I got bunions. 15 years later, that did indeed come to pass and my super cute shoe days are over. Now I'm not really saying I hope you get cancer one day, but...

OK, I won't wear one if a cancer patient's parent asks me to. Happy now? What is your point? Because mine was I wouldn't be able to say no to someone who has a kid going through cancer.

If you are wishing illness on someone else over a cloth mask, you really need some therapy.

DP. Sad cancer kid? Too bad a mask can’t protect others from the garlic in your soul.

Does the Giant have a sign asking that you wear a mask? Would you wear one if someone asked you directly?

NP. Are people really this obnoxious that they would ask a total stranger to wear a mask?

Apologies for not being clear. I meant to say someone working at the Giant where you normally shop.

I am trying to understand if you are connected to your community enough to know and respect the people who work there and so care about how they feel about you wearing a mask where they ask you to do so.

And I don’t have a basement, an N95 or anxiety. Just curious about how a person such as yourself gets so isolated from their community.

Half the employees at my Safeway aren't wearing their own masks anyway, the other half of the half are wearing ill fitting cloth. What is anyone going to do, go get the security guard, who was also invariably maskless? It's less being isolated from the community, and more having eyes and a brain that mask mandates don't work. Masks can work, but mandating people wear one, with zero enforcement or standards, is pointless. Only those employees constantly at risk of being Karen'd for not wearing a mask for their God knows how many hours shifts. It's easy to demand mask mandates when you're the pajama Zoom class only having to wear one for half an hour a day for your elective shopping trip.

I did buy garlic on my last unmasked trip to the grocery store (thanks Mayor Bowser!). Since people are so offended by the notion that I would wear a mask upon request in that example of people who are unquestionably in really sympathetic situations, I'm thinking a no exceptions policy is best. Thanks for clarifying.

These are stupid questions because no employee would ask that at the stores where I've shopped since the mandate was lifted.

So you aren’t willing to answer the question.

Sorry. No getting around calling a child a sad cancer kid. You already showed us who you are.

You’re terrible at this but, sure, why not.

But they would have to provide one because I wouldn’t have one on me.

LOL. Like wearing a cloth mask does any good? It’s such a useless piece of theater, Bowser herself doesn’t follow it.

I stayed home to curb the spread and got vaccinated as soon as I could. That’s the civic mindedness you should be applauding but I’m laughing at how much you cling to these masks to curb your anxiety.

+1000 and this is the bottom line. We all know now that masks do little if any good; otherwise, Covid would be long gone by now. So sorry, I'm just not willing to continue to indulge you. And yes, NP here, but I do live in DC. I never wear a mask in stores or other locations now and no one ever says a word to me. I think most people are over it, whether or not they continue to mask to appease the crazies or not.

We're not getting anywhere here. I feel like the anti-mask trolls don't need further feeding. Responsible adults, are you with me?

“With you”? What are you a teenager? I mask but I could care less what others do. You make your own decisions. You know, like a “responsible adult”.
