I have a huge amount of respect for Susan Collins now. She could have meekly issued a statement like other senators, but she actually got up in front of everyone and articulately explained her position and basing her position on the need to at least meet the preponderance of evidence standard.

I completely agree. Huge props to Sen. Collins for explaining her decision so articulately. The past few weeks have been a disgusting nightmare smear job.

Like she pretends not to see the liar Kavanaugh is? She is voting along the party line, how refreshing is that?

Her insistence on the preponderance of evidence standard is what is important. She rejected the idea that the mere presence of allegations is sufficient to reject someone.

Really? What was her excuse not to demand a hearing on Garland?

Abortions at 18/19 and now Christian homeschools her daughters?! WTF? So you CAN set your course straight but no one else can. What's funny is my SIL had her baby at 15 and is pro choice. The other two had an abortion(s) and are virulently antiabortion. Senator Collins is a TRAITOR to women.

She is childless so she has no need to care about future generations.

She has been married to a lobbyist since 2012. He represents the Russian Federation in a matter in Alaska.

NO ONE HAS ADDRESSED THIS IN THE 4 MONTHS OF THE OTHER BS.

This says exactly what I've said several times on here. If his parents gave him $200k to pay off debt he better have claimed it on his taxes and paid what was due. I hope the Attorney General's Office in MD will take a look at his taxes.

In reality I think the Federalist Society probably paid the debt. Taxes are owed as well as a jail sentence. Banks keep terrific anti money laundering records now. A state investigator could get to the bottom of this fairly quickly.

This is insane.
Do you not wonder why the Democrats on the committee have not been harping on anything financial with Kavanaugh? Could it be - just maybe - that they have seen the evidence and heard the explanation of any debts that were paid off when the committee was in closed session?

You folks have sealed the fate of the Democratic party for decades.

False allegations, clearly manipulated testimony, no corroborating testimony from her own batch of "witnesses", extended play time on major media outlets.

Your party has done more to insure a "Red Wave" than any carefully constructed media push the conservatives could ever hope to finance ever could.

Feinstein over played her hand, and has doomed you all to failure for decades.

I'm good with it.

Feinstein could have been uninvolved completely and the trsult would be the same. BK was to be put on the court regardless of his stumbling drunk stint as a golden preppy and frat and subsequent dishonesty about it. His ugly behaviors and lies were excused.

It’s too bad that she doesn’t have a Democratic equivalent. What has become of the Democratic Party?

Also, he doesn't have to claim the $200k from his parents on his tax return. That money isn't taxable (but will ultimately count against the estate when his parents die, less the $60,000 they are permitted to give every year with absolutely no tax consequences, ever. So....$140,000 will be added back when figuring the estate tax bill at the end.)

None of those items really make a difference at this point.

True, but 26 hours ago, if the White House was running a legitimate investigation and not a sham, it does and would have. It is simply a lie to say there is no corroboration. Total baldface lie.

And what about the building permits? Did he lie about renovations or did he do illegal work on his house? Has to be one or the other.

That is overlooking corroborating evidence which she and the entire GOP ignored.

Collins is a hack. She is lying through her teeth when she claims Boof won’t try to gut Roe and any number of other protections. Every one of those Republicans needs to be voted out.

This independent just joined the Democratic party. So yes.
