I have a huge amount of respect for Susan Collins now. She could have meekly issued a statement like other senators, but she actually got up in front of everyone and articulately explained her position and basing her position on the need to at least meet the preponderance of evidence standard.

I completely agree. Huge props to Sen. Collins for explaining her decision so articulately. The past few weeks have been a disgusting nightmare smear job.

Like she pretends not to see the liar Kavanaugh is? She is voting along the party line, how refreshing is that?

Her insistence on the preponderance of evidence standard is what is important. She rejected the idea that the mere presence of allegations is sufficient to reject someone.

That is overlooking corroborating evidence which she and the entire GOP ignored.

Her “corroborating evidence” actually did more to exonerate Kavanaugh.
It is difficult to understand how people can blindly “believe her” when there is no evidence to support her claims.

Sure is. Getting ready to canvass in VA 10.

Donated to Beto, Synema and Jacky. Planning on doing one or both of these things every day till November.

You folks have sealed the fate of the Democratic party for decades.

False allegations, clearly manipulated testimony, no corroborating testimony from her own batch of "witnesses", extended play time on major media outlets.

Your party has done more to insure a "Red Wave" than any carefully constructed media push the conservatives could ever hope to finance ever could.

Feinstein over played her hand, and has doomed you all to failure for decades.

I'm good with it.

Keith, the Republican Party has become a money-grubbing criminal enterprise. The FBI investigation was a sham. Putting a deceitful political operative on the Supreme Court, when there are at least 20 other judges who pass the conservatives' litmus test, is a huge blunder. Not only will every 5-4 decision he is part of be questioned, the questions of his character and fitness will not go away. Just yesterday there's another person came out who knew both Bart & Mark Judge, and says he believes Ford.

The lack of a real investigation has done even more damage to our government's institutions, as we continue our descent into authoritarianism. Enjoy the ride!

Of course it's over. A SCOTUS confirmation is final.

Please don’t lump boys and their parents into this! Your sweeping generalization is ridiculous. I have a teenage son who is appalled by Kavanaugh’s past and present. He is also confused about why a deeper investigation wasn’t conducted. I’ve taught my son from an early age to respect ALL. He is a gentleman to the core. He would and has defended his friends (girls and boys) against bullying.

Maybe this post will soften your heart...there are more honorable men than you think. (Warning: this is incredibly hard to read)

Bill Clinton lied under oath and was impeached for it but nothing happened.

Ironically it was all over a woman as well.

Dunno if anything will happen to Kavanaugh. I suspect trying to impeach him from the SC for lying over whether he had been drunk or not 35 years ago isn't something that's going to happen.

But I do support more investigation into the matter. Because the more we learn, the more we realize Blasey-Ford's story is not trustworthy.

Cool story, bro. See you at the impeachment hearings. Right after Mueller releases his report as well.

None of those items really make a difference at this point.

True, but 26 hours ago, if the White House was running a legitimate investigation and not a sham, it does and would have. It is simply a lie to say there is no corroboration. Total baldface lie.

The truth is, and you know it-- whether or not you'll admit it, her attorneys are extremely liberal, proactive Democrats who will never stop their carefully planned accusations and agenda. Wouldn't surprise me if they, and others who feel the same, keep at it for years. We get it. It's political on both sides. Just depends on which side you're on. Personally, I'm with Susan Collins. And, yes, I'm a woman.

Thanks for the warning. I won't be responding to the doorbell today.

While she clearly was trying to look at the evidence and facts, she completely ignored the fact that Kavanaugh's own calendar shows the assault took place on 11 July. I just cannot see how it is that people say there is on evidence when there is that calendar.
