Newbie question about how to actually compare teams. Daughter will be U9 in fall and is doing tryouts. NCSL doesn't put the Fall 2024 standings/results on website. Is there anywhere I can see this? Can someone paste it in if you have it? I just don't want to put my daughter on a program that lost every single game last fall. Any leads appreciated. |
Let's give all of the information. All those teams made playoffs last year as well. 12s/6th 11s/1st and 1st last year? 10s/4th and will likely lose to Penn Fusion, could drop to 5th but are in playoffs because of winning NA Cup. 09s/10th and will likely lose to Penn Fusion. (1-7-2) 08s/3rd and will likely lose to Penn Fusion, Delco game results removed due to parent, players, and coaches actions on both sides, a loss to Pipeline will knock them out of playoffs since Pipeline likely to win over Ukies. 07-06s/5th which is an improvement. The 11s are impressive and better than than the 10s and 09s. That is where Bethesda gained the most this year. |
Monopoly on a highly populated region, also drawing some from Howard and Frederick County. |
PG, Carroll, and even Calvert Counties too. Don't forget the girls from Fairfax, Arlington, and sometimes even Loudoun counties coming from VA too. Monopolies work! |
11's have gotten better every year so next year will be the true test. They said the same things about how amazing the 10s were a year ago too. That team at least has post season success to back up the claims. 5th place this year is not progress though. So time will tell what happens with the 11s. Every bethesda team drops off in HS for some reason. Is is the toxic coaching wearing thin? Pressures of recruitment? Other interests, sports, boys, theatre? Is i the constat inter team player and parent dramas? Is it the lack of field availability? Theire monopoly is losing its foothold with the GA entrants being added in MoCo. Its a slow decline but still a decline. |
Transforming Maryland Youth Soccer email: mdclubsoccer@protonmail.com A new organization for Maryland parents of current and/or former youth soccer players and coaches who are fed up with the win-at-all-costs, warm body for cold cash landscape in Maryland. We can and need to transform the club environment in Maryland. It is time to wage war against the educational malpractice that has failed to develop players (the scoreboard and trophy case are the wrong metrics to measure the competence of your child's coach/club/DOC/owner), the exorbitant salaries being paid to members of the Maryland club soccer mafia infrastructure and the ridiculous fees being charged. Send me your stories and concerns. I will keep you posted on an upcoming community open house that will serve as a forum for parents and coaches to be heard, and an opportunity to develop Next Steps to make progress. The Beautiful Game and the next generation of Maryland youth players needs YOU! We can make an impact....join our group to help expose the unethical standards and behavior of clubs and to help create a model club that will offer an affordable "player development first" alternative to the Big Box offenders. Definitely a lot of electric car drivers in this post |
Maybe create a registered account with DCUM so we know you are legit. You are spamming this forum otherwise. I have no problem with what you are trying to do but being anonymous with a Proton email is just shady. |
I would assume that the everyone not offered a spot is put on the waitlist and then as players decline offers the club will pull people from the waitlist. I would also assume the waitlist is for the weakest team in the age group. Playing for the weakest team at BSC is typically not a great experience (young or inexperienced coaches, fewer tournaments, poor level of play, less focus from the management) and no better than a rec team. |
Parents looking for scores of games at the U8 level is mind blowing. WOW |
NCSL intentionally does not post scores for U9 and U10, they start at U11. I think the reason is to avoid focusing on the result as opposed to development and the experience. |
Bethesda U9 boys age group is extremely talented at the top. Obviously, very young and hard to say how they will develop. But an impressive group. |
You need to look at the coach not the results. If you are curious on soccer rankings there are apps and websites that will give tournament and some league data. 1st team lower age groups at Bethesda historically do well. |
There is an app called Soccer Rankings that aggregates scores from publicly available data |
Bad path to start down at this age. Development programs should be developing players (along with whatever outside development a family chooses to undertake). Playing to win is important, but winning at the expense of development is what brings toxicity to these clubs. Talking with one of our old coaches who is going through tryouts now, our club has a U11 first team, coach, and development director so focused on winning that they have created a brittle team and failed to develop the two teams underneath them. They're going to have tough times when they reach the higher age groups. Instead, try to get a sense of how teams and players in the club evolve and mature from U9 to U14. Anyway, my 2 cents from a parent with a kid at U16. |
