1. Bullis - best senior class in the area. They will need to stay healthy as depth will be an issue
2. Landon - solid across the board. extremely well coached
3. SJC - Cadets will go as far as their 2026 can carry them. Well coached too!
4. Prep - defensive heavy with some offensive stars layered in. Always athletic
5. PVI - bring back majority of their roster from last season

HM: GZ, EHS, GC

Long-time observer of area HS lacrosse and played in the college ranks. The assessment above is pretty accurate.

Bullis brings back Mahar who can take over a game on the offensive side of the field, Bullis also returns a talented fogo. Look for Bullis to be able to score in runs if their FOGO gets hot. Bulldogs bring back most of their offensive starters from last season so they should have more chemistry.

Landon, while they are very well coached and always have the horses in between the lines, their offense will be a shell of what it was last year with Pannetti now gone. They return both of their fogos who were good last season but to my knowledge, they have no one on their roster who has the offensive talents of a few of the 24s who just graduated.

SJC will be very interesting. Draley was a beast last season as he carried the Cadets in several games when offensive production was lacking (WCAC championship game) Cadets return their attack (added in a senior transfer to bolster the lineup) and Offut in the midfield but none of them are even close to the caliber of player Draley is or when Duenkel was healthy.

Prep will be in a re-building mode this season as the Hoyas graduated a talented 2024 class.

Honestly what you are describing is more that the region is really down for the year overall. Bullis plays a weak schedule and has a weak overall team - some great players - but coaching and years of experience tell us that they will fall apart over a season whether its due to lack of depth, coaching or just pressure. Prep and St. Johns will lose a LOT. Key positional weaknesses at FOGO and Goalie. Plus their 'stars' are just not 'stars' like they have had in the past or as they are being billed as. Gonzaga is solid but zero playmakers like the Eagles had in Johnny, Landon had in Panetti and Roberts, or Prep had with Kabiri and Burns. So look for I Street to rely on its defense, as offense will be a HUGE problem, as will FOGO and goalie. Landon is the sleeper. Very strong at FOGO, goalie and great depth at midfield. Attack and Defense are individually so-so, but as a unit solid. Combine that with their coaching and they will be formidable. The rest of them - PVI, GC, EHS, ST. Alban's, SSSAS and DeMatha - will be very up and down due to coaching, personnel and schedule. But I really believe knowing lots of the personnel at some of these schools that if you sleep on any of them, they could easily pick off one or more of the Bullis, Prep, St. John's, Gonzaga and Landon teams. Its just a down year compared to years-past. The kids all know each other. So no one is sneaking up on anyone, which should make for some competitive matches this spring.

St. Johns weak at goalie? The starter is committed to PSU. Clearly you know nothing.

There was this little TV show called Game of Thrones.

Anyway, I'm guessing you are either you are a mom of a son who plays at St Albans and works at the State Department and doesn't have time for TV that's not related to foreign affairs or news content, or a dad of a player at Gonzaga who only watches WWII documentaries and listens to conservative podcasts, who doesn't do "fantasy" genre.

They said what does that mean, not who is that. But thanks for the window into your character. You sound like a great guy.

I didn't hear any judgment there. Just humorous speculation of two walks of life that might have avoided GoT somehow. Lighten up.

You heard it here first. The PSU commit will not be the starter at St. John’s. Several mid year transfers from Illinois, Florida and South Carolina.

SJC turmoil already and the season hasn’t started yet.

Speaks has a reputation for just recruiting right over kids.

Buyer beware….

That's an interesting gripe against a HC.

His job is to recruit the best 8th graders, develop underclassmen, and match/promote talent to college programs.

Are "mid- year" transfers a thing in WCAC lacrosse?

It seems less likely for a new student to enroll in Dec/Jan and contribute to a Spring sport in March/April.

Is this happening at SJC or elsewhere frequently?

Multiple mid year transfers enrolled at St. John’s. The players don’t know it but they will start school this week. Common practice at St. John’s.
