Weird marriage - guy 21, girl 15

Anonymous
I saw something really strange recently in PA. The guy is almost 21 and girl just turned 15 and they got married. Is it even allowed? I thought in some states it is ok after parental consent but that is very young for a girl to be getting married. It doesn't matter but can tell you the demographics if it helps with the cultural background.

Sounds like a shotgun wedding. He didn't wrap that rascal and done knocked her up.

Legally they can't marry in PA even with parental consent. They could get married in the states that allow a 15 year old to marry with parental consent, though, which a few do.

Op here again. She wasn't pregnant and they are both Hispanic from a blue collar family. this is what both of them wanted but I am surprised that girls' mom and step-dad allowed that.

They got married in the Catholic church?

I think you are mistaken on her age

Honestly sounds like she is being trafficked.

No, they are still living with the family. a little tight for them since house is small but they are not making any complaints.

For all you know, stepdad didn’t want to support her or mom was worried about her safety or BF wanted to take her out of an unhealthy family life. That being said, 15 or even 21 is too early for us but we don’t know their situation.

The majority of traffickers are related to the victim. I’d call children and youth and report this. It needs investigation.

No church, mosque, synagogue or temple would participate in an illegal marriage.

Officiant can lose their license at minimum and see criminal charges or lawsuit at maximum.

Report to authorities.

You can't legally marry under 18 in PA so someone is lying or wrong about the age. Either way, call the police and CPS
