Mayim Bialik's horrific experience on GLP-1's

Did any of you read "Mayim Bialik: My GLP-1 Nightmare" article? It's amazing and eye opening for those of us who have not jumped on this bandwagon of GLP-1's. I really think they're not preparing those for the possible massive side effects and of course no one really knows the long term side effects for those who abused the medication to lose those last 20 pesky pounds. So few doctors are speaking up but when I've questioned a new of mine they mostly all say the same those meds should be used when it's a life or death situation like severe obesity is going to end someone's life. Whatever your personal thoughts are I'm glad she put her voice out there.

Some people have a bad reaction. Most don’t. I’ve been on for a year now and feel great. YMMV.

Let me guess, OP, you're someone who has never struggled with weight and will take any opportunity to shame people who are overweight?

Anyone with a chronic condition can tell you that there are no medical interventions that are risk free. Even a simple Epley maneuver for vertigo could make you vomit. Almost any doctor or person with a chronic condition will tell you that different bodies respond differently to the same intervention and that different people have varying tolerances for discomfort. I've has a necessary diagnostic procedure that was literally traumatic for me, while a friend returned to work on the same day that she had that procedure. I’ve discontinued a medication for intolerable side effects. Meanwhile, my 80 year-old relative benefits from the same medication at a higher dose and no side effects. My bad experience is not a reason to take the medication away from my relative. Rather, it’s important that we all have doctors who listen to us and advise on how to adjust dosing or discontinue a medication if we find it intolerable.

I don’t understand why GLP-1 agonists inspire such moral panic. Someone’s relationship with their body and with their doctor is none of your business.

The fact that this was published in Bari Weiss’s The Free Press should be a great sign to discount it entirely.

Mayim Biyalik is a nut job.

Other celebrities have said they had horrible side effects, they just weren't as explicit about crapping their pants as Mayim was.

Twice today I saw this! Another poster today on another thread talked about crapping their pants 3 times on it! I couldn't believe it.

WOW THANK YOU SO MUCH for yet another thread about how dangerous GLP-1s are. There hasn't been one in like a day and a half, and you're doing God's work. Our doctors don't know any of this when they prescribe it and definitely needed you to tell us just how scary they can be.

1. She mentions Semiglutatide, which is Ozempic. Ozempic has more side effects than Tirzepatide.

2. I'm on Tirzeptatide with a goal to lose 15-20 lbs after being unsuccessful for past 2 years (I actually gained despite my efforts). I take half the starting dose so 1.25 mg, have had NO side effects, and am down 6 lbs in 6 weeks. Love it!

I can't believe you basically confessed in print to providing her prescription medication to someone else. That seems like a bad idea

This is the same with literally any medication. There are always rare but serious side effects. I'm sure the cost-benefit analysis doesn't pan out for someone who's not overweight and looking to lose vanity pounds. I think the cost-benefit analysis might still weigh in favor of GLP-1s (no pun intended) for someone who is only a bit overweight. My spouse's sleep apnea disappeared after dropping from a bit overweight into normal BMI territory.
