Search tips?

I'm trying to find an old thread (from sometime in the last two to three emonths) about toy suggestions for a 18-19 month old. Any tips for using the search function?

That's going to be a tough one because the potential search terms are all so common. I'm not sure how you will be able to compose a useful query.

Basically, we have three ways to search built-in to the site. Clicking on the "search" link takes you to two forums-wide searches, a Google Custom Search and the built-in search. The built-in search will probably search more, but it only uses very simple queries. Basically, you can only enter something like "toy recommendations". Google lets you use more advanced techniques if you are familiar with Google's syntax. Finally, each forum has its own built-in search that only searches that specific forum. That's a little more useful if you know which forum you want to search.

You can also use Google with "site:www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum" as part of your query. I assume you can do something similar with Bing, though I've never tried.

I try a few different things and see if I have any luck.

In regards to the search function, it is possible for the results to display chronologically? I've searched for a few posts in the Private School section, and the first and last page results were from 2008...
