DS is turning one soon and several people have asked me what they should get him for his birthday. Other than clothes, I'm at a loss of what to ask for. Any ideas? DS has outgrown the Jumperoo and Exersaucer so I'd love any recommendations on age-appropriate toys that your DC has liked. |
My son loves balls, football, soccer ball, etc. He also loves his drum and other musical instruments. He is now 20 months and starting to like puzzles too. |
Our daughter is not quite 16 months. Toys she has particularly liked include a toddler set of musical instruments, her walker toy, her rocking giraffe, and a passionate love affair with her Little Red Wagon. On bang-for-the-buck, she has used a few of those push toys, and the one she likes best is the $8 Ikea Mula push toy - it pushes easily and makes quite a bit of a clacking noise, which she loves - she'll do laps around the house with it. |
12 mo old DD loves balls to play soccer
she is also fascinated with stacking cups, construction bricks (megablock and the like) last but not least I think that one never has too many books: DD loves to read and even if she does not mind, I get bored reading the same story over and over so I am delighted when she gets more books and she seems to appreciate the new ones too. |
DD is 12 months and also LOVES books and musical instruments - she has a piano, drum and lots of shakers (maracas, etc.) |
Loves books, balls, and his teddy bear/stuffed animals. He also just likes to run around outside a lot. At the playground, he likes the slide, swings, and the small playhouse. If we had the space/yard, I would buy him one of those small playhouses and small slides. |
Little People such as the Farm and any extra Little People
Stacking Toys Blocks (First Years makes nice rubber-like ones) Books -- Goodnight Gorilla, Miss Spider's Tea Party, Dr. Suess, Go Dog Go!, I'll Teach My Dog a Lot of Words, Sometimes I Like to Curl Up in a Ball, James Balog's Animals A to Z, The Adventures of Wonderbaby from A to Z, etc... Bath Toys Lamaze Pond Stackers -- these are a big hit! Seems to like stuff that is not battery operated better than some of the b-day and Christmas presents we got such a baby V-Tech laptop, Leap Frog toys (several are annoying anyway), guitar with lots of buttons/sounds but he does like the FP piano. |
My 18-month old has been into stacking toys for months. She also likes shape sorters. Oh, and the magnadoodle is a popular item, though I've had to take it apart three times to reattach the magnet to the eraser bar thing. |
My son got a Little People bus for his 1st birthday and he played with that thing constantly. That began his love affair with all things vehicular-- cars, trucks, buses-- Anything with wheels he could push around. |
My 14-month DS likes books, balls, buses, puzzles, and fire trucks quite a bit. He discovered the sand box a couple weeks ago and LOVES to dig in the dirt now. |
Anything that has to do with cars and trucks. My DS loves anything that rolls. |
My 18 month old's favorite toys over the past six months have been the following:
Fisher Price Ball Popper - favorite thing for months Rocking horse - both the kind on rockers and the kind with springs strollers and shopping carts puzzles cars books, particularly Sandra Boynton board books toys that sing the alphabet song Not a toy, but she also likes furniture her own size, like her rocking chair and lawn chairs. |
My 13 month old loves her push walker thing from Fisher Price. |
my cellphone.
here's a tip: charge an old cellphone and let your kid go crazy with it. as for what people can buy: anything with balls that go through chutes or baskets....and books you don't already have (even if kiddo isn't bored by them, i sure am!) |
My twins received a little tikes basketball hoop for Christmas when they were 14 months...The play with it every day.
They also like puzzles (the ones with the red pegs used to hold the pieces) Books Fake dirt devil vacuum cleaner stacking blocks Shape sorters. But the basketball hoop is their favorite and it has different heights so it grows with them. |
