Wow these comments are so racist. A smart, multitalented, disciplined and clean living multimillionaire Latina with successful film, singing and dancing career is not good enough for white trash with personal, drug and alcohol abuse issues? Afflecks father was a drunk and a janitor. He grew up in an emotionally abusive home.

None of that precludes that he has a ton of issues and demons himself obviously and that in some ways she is probably more stable, responsible and far less impulsive than he is, in various ways. That's what I think will drive her crazy....his impulsively and self indulgence. She's far more controlled and self contained.

I mean look, I think Lopez is an extremely hard, committed worker who has lived a very clean life, and she is obviously a genius marketer who understands how to package a product and a persona that sells. But that thing about oversexualizing is complete bullshit. J Lo is oversexualized because she presents herself as an oversexual object. No one oversexualizes other Latin celebrities because they don't have their tits hanging out the way Lopez does. No one will oversexualize with you if you cover up.

Ben is gorgeous but a mess. He needs a really really strong woman to keep him in check, someone who will challenge him, kind of like the dynamic between Warren Beatty and Anette Benning.

You've made a great point about Annette Bening. Big differences in that Annette is well educated, grew up in a reasonably stable home in the midwesy, doesn't appear to put as much emphasis on her appearance 24/7 and comes across as self- confident not desperate.

Basically she is way better than him, but because she is Latina and he is white and “educated”, the DCUM folks and his mom think she is not good enough.

That's what you got from the post? The premise was she has to deal with the prejudicial bs factor not that she is not good enough in reality. Also I meant he is white culturally and she is too obviously but also proud of her Puerto Rican heritage, rightly so. She is better in a lot if ways but she's not formally educated and I think she might feel insecure about that. A lot of people do. I mean hell few people have EVERYTHING. That's something she has not earned and I suspect it bothers her.

No one said or inferred he was "better". Good Lord. It was suggested she might be insecure about her lack of formal education. A lot of stars are actually. It's not that unusual.

So it's fine to talk about the ways she has more. (Money, self control, discipline, good judgment, work ethic). But if we mention one way he may have more (he appears to be more formally) educated) suddenly this is deeply offensive. Ok

She may want it both ways, yes ....that she can objectify herself but then be bothered by being objectified in other settings or by people objectifying when it is unwanted or she is criticized for it. But It's a dilemma. Just readcommodity. review which summed up the problem of making your beauty a commodity.

Actually, I see no problem with saying he's better educated . However, I don't think it makes him look good as you think it does , given his lifestyle . He's every bit the Boston trash—educational background notwithstanding
