Hunt Valley brings what Lewis needs.

So are you saying decisions should be based proximity to the high school? Western Langley pyramid fervently disagrees.

This was refuted yesterday and you just ignored it, so I will repeat it for you. Langley less than twenty minutes, Herndon high about fifteen. Turns out there’s no easy way to get across 7.

Advocate all you want, but do it honestly, because bus time is not a real reason for that school to be redistricted.

What time did you take your estimate and did you account for stops along the route?

7/7:30. Stops along the route would cancel each other out when comparing times. I travel Georgetown Pike for work frequently and the only issue that I ever encounter is a tree down or car broken down.

Travel times is a big nothing burger pretext.

Then why are people always complaining about traffic and backups on Georgetown Pike? I have heard so many people say it takes them forever to get to Cooper and Langley.

I don’t know anyone who complains, so I can’t comment on why they lie. I’m just reporting the actual situation at the relevant times.

They won't touch Keene Mill. That school brings in a good amount of diversity to WSHS.

It's going to be Hunt Valley, folks. No way to get around that. Most of the neighborhoods (if not all) that border the parkway after Gambrill, go to Lewis.

Also 7/7:30 am or pm?

am. And to anticipate your next questions, Eastern time and during the school year.

Just saying this over and over isn't going to make it true. Saratoga goes to Lewis. The other neighborhoods around Gambrill go to South County.

If Hunt Valley sends their AAP kids to a center, then this number could be more.....or less. But 51% is pretty high.

Pretty sure I said border the parkway....look at a map.

You just live on the wrong side of the parkway. It's ok. Your kids will be grandfathered in.

You mean the part of that neighborhood that didn't have the demographics back then to get the switch?

Actually a lot of people were clamoring to get into SCHS when it was built and they were also trying to keep out The Poors in certain parts of Lorton. And there is an attendance island for Halley on the other side of 95- the infamous Hagel Circle area. Those kids go to Halley/South County and they are absolutely bussed to Halley, past Laurel Hill. Otherwise they would go to Lorton Station or possibly Gunston, and Hayfield.

Hunt Valley does send AAP kids to Sangster.

FWIW, we’re a POC family and have always been happy with the diversity of HV.

Gunston is a split feeder. The kids who actually live on Mason Neck where Gunston is located all go to South County, but the rest of the elementary school goes to Hayfield. Apparently it was a whole big thing when South County was built, but it worked out.

I think it’s crazy that he thinks only seniors would be grandfathered in to major boundary changes. They should start any changes at the high school level with a freshman class. Can you imagine having a junior have to switch high schools? All the work and bonding with sports, music, theater, etc. not to mention their course selections mapped out for their most important academic year. That guy sounds nuts.

He’s former military and a finance bro. He has no clue why anyone would want stability. I’m sure this doesn’t affect his kids anyway.

Was thinking the same thing. These kids have already been through enough.

Rising seniors would be grandfathered. Rising juniors would have two years at the new high school.
