| Seriously, Toll is the worst team at managing champion level meets. Last time, they totally dropped the ball and had no merch vendors contracted and only old bag tags from a different meet . This year, if you volunteer, then you can’t get in to buy the merch because they have a line of 200 people they need to let in because they are charging parents to watch their kids and good forbid they don’t make you wait in line or charge you after volunteering for 5 hours. I guess they need to make money to offset the bag tags they actually did this year. Not everyone makes this every year and they have no concept of this. Sure, they can book a facility and get the meet run, but the other factors that show you care about swimmers and not just running a business to make money, they have repeatedly show they suck in this category. We collectively sighed when we saw Toll was running this meet again and will continue to do so until a team that cares about running a good experience meet instead of just mailing it in like they are doing this under duress takes over. |
| What's a bag tag? |
why is charging a spectator fee a bad thing? I thought $5 was for a session is reasonable. |
That in itself isn’t the end of the world. But if you already are struggling to do a good job, adding the management of gate entry is a bad idea. Toll is no chick fil a! Who am I kidding? They aren’t Walmart on Black Friday! |
| I’m embarrassed by how rude and entitled both of your posts have been. No one wants to host these meets. It’s an insane amount of work, impossible to get volunteers, and clubs have to deal with demanding parents that think this all happens magically. If no club stepped up, your kid would have no big meet at which to swim. If it’s that bad, offer to help the PVS Board, volunteer your time to Toll, etc. it’s youth sports, please manage your expectations accordingly and focus on the kids. |
What? |

| Does the meet host end up losing or making money on this meet? |
|
| Was the line to get in awful again? |
| Someday your swimmer will grow up and you’ll be embarrassed that you ever fussed about merch and bag tags for an age group meet. You’ll still be fussing about parking and lines to get in and admission fees etc at UMD because that never changes though. Till then just take a deep breath and try to enjoy watching your child compete. Good luck to all the swimmers and thank you to all the volunteers, and especially to Toll or any team that hosts a big meet |
| PVS made the decision on spectator fees. It was the same for last week. Maybe chill out a little and take a deep breath before throwing a club under the bus |
It's not the fee itself, it's the prices being used to collect/verify the fee which is causing huge delays. Hopefully it went better for finals today. |
Generally making money, but not a huge amount. |
