Jen's posts are getting less and less engagement. Her latest "apology" post reminds me of the self-help bros who always had to address their nonexistent "haters."

And does Tyler do anything to take care of his health? He talks all about his cancer but seems to never engage in any obviously healthy habits and is dangerously overweight.

And I'm sorry, but "chosen family" is imo reserved for folks who actually have no loving family in their lives. Jen has a very supportive and loving, blood-related actual family. Stop co-opting these terms so shamelessly, like "child bride."

Awake came out a little less than 2 months ago.

The apology post is completely cringe, but axe-grinding against the conservative evangelical church is both de rigueur and is also Jen's main schtick now. And while she's probably not getting rich off of it, I'd imagine it's at least somewhat profitable. It's been a publishing cottage industry for a couple decades now, and Jen was at least somewhat on that train even when she still professed to be a Christian.
It seems to me like people who get on it just keep riding around and around the same circle, continually talking about the same things. I was in church with people like this for a long time and some of them have gone completely off the rails. One guy, in particular, who was a pastor, ended up becoming an Episcopal priest and spends a fair amount of time on social media ranting about politics and criticizing conservative Christians.

What's Jen's future? Awake came out and didn't do too well. That was her last bet shot at publishing success and now it's fallen way down the best seller charts. She's hinted at a second cookbook. I guess this will be the next project.

Jen got extraordinarily lucky in her trajectory because of her kids. Large families will always have a place in content creation. Jen on her own doesn’t sell.

Correct, and this sounds terrible, but middle aged women are forgettable and over looked (I'm there too, so it's not a knock on her age). She's an empty nester. I know Remy may live at home, but she has five adults. She can milk the grandson for content to an extent, but he also has parents with their own boundaries for Jen-ma or Jay or whatever she's calling herself.

Even a second cookbook doesn't make sense. She's not cooking on a daily basis at this point. She will have to talk about elder care soon, and try to milk that, even though she has siblings and her parents seem to be doing well.

Most of us are forgettable and overlooked from a media centric point of view. It's not necessarily a bad thing. What sucks about social media is that it leads so many of us to believe that we should have and need to have an audience for our lives to matter. It leads us to delusions of grandeur.

Yup on the job search and it’s freakin brutal. If you don’t have a “personal brand”, you’re a nobody. Don’t even bother sending a resume.

I'm sorry. Job hunting is the worst no matter what, without adding a layer of social media inspired nonsense to make it worse.

Sis made a ton of valuable contacts with this last book (Reese, Oprah, etc) How will she capitalize on that? She is no longer the end of school year mom. She is a garden variety divorcee who has some writing talent.
The presence of her fake boyfriend really messes with her relentless claim of awake-ness.

Don't forget that she's also someone who publicly rejected her Christian faith in order to publicly revel in the zeitgeist. That's a big part of her claim to be "Awake" as well and there is a perennial market for it. It adds an additional aspect to her garden variety divorcee identity.

And now her latest post on "Enough". Implying that Brandon was mentally abusive. I will not be surprised at all if she writes an entire book on abuse. Run, Tina

With creatures like Jen they are only the total hero or the total victim. I am sure Jen will never be honest regarding her contributions to the implosion of her marriage. I am sure Brandon has his own receipts.

I just finished reading Awake (got it from the library). She talks about being groomed by her teacher in middle school. Obviously, I don’t know if it did or did not happen, but it seems interesting to me that with all of the transparency that she always talks about, now is the first time that we are hearing about this. Is she running out of reasons to be the victim?
