| Are any of these schools know for strong alumni networks for seniors job searching? If so are they instate, regional or national? |
|
If you want to be in Florida, UF means a lot. I got my first job right out of school after an on campus interview with a recruiter.
|
| common sense says they are regional networks |
Quite the opposite. Common sense says more folks are familiar with state flagships seen on TV than podunk SLAC’s. |
OP asked about alumni networks, not name recognition. |
Same thing. Large universities have greater ability to recruit students. Not many students on the west coast have heard of LAC’s on the east coast but they know about the Gators. |
If they're hiring grads based on sports outcomes, they get what they deserve! |
Agreed. UF doesn't have the national rep. I remember when my kid was admitted there last cycle telling people. The normal response would be "I didn't know that was hard to get into". For reference, we live in the Midwest. |
A well-adjusted kid from a state flagship would be better every single day. They were at the top of their state to be admitted, they made it through undergrad without hand holding, and they’re probably actually fun to get a drink with. Enjoy hiring a pampered cry-baby lol |
It’s not Florida’s fault you have provincial friends. |
It's like you never met a basic corporate mid-level man. |
How long ago? I didn’t really know about the school until like a few years ago. I was surprised that so many people (including friends from other countries) were telling my kid it’s competitive to get in last year after he was admitted! |
| They are all pretty similar, if I had to pick myself it would be UNC. UF has been on a rocky path since Meatball Ron took over. UT is huge in the state of Texas, which if you have not been to Texas, well.....it's Texas. |
+1 PP's friends clearly just don't pay attention to what the better colleges are. That's no reflection on UF. |
Last cycle. It was frustrating because it’s a good school |
