| Thoughts? Names? |
| Someone who can plan for virtual learning on weather closure days. |
| Thomas Taylor is not going anywhere. He's a white man and has the protection and adoration of the all-female school board. |
| Sue has a lot of time on her hands |
He'll be gone by September 2027, when his brilliant regional program goes into effect, and the school transportation system collapses immediately. Hopefully whatever board is assembled post election will plan out a timeline to get rid of him, with a sufficient planning time so that we can attract quality candidates and not have to hire on such a short timeline again. |
They never had to hire on a short timeline. That was a choice. |
| This is why no one wants the job. |
Dearth of "qualified" candidates |
banana republic |
It wasn't a choice. It took that long to get rid of McKnight because of some holdouts on the board. That gave the board a short timeline on which to hire and we have Taylor as a result. |
Never heard of Interim Superintendents? MCPS has used them before. No rush to hire. |
I'd prioritize someone that is capable of managing building services staff and contractors responsible for snow removal, since we all know virtual is a disaster. |
+1. Get the superintendent lady from Alexandria public schools. Their press release on Wednesday announcing the details of Virtual learning for all students and food distribution centers for needy kids was a pleasure to read. |
| Thomas is not bad. If anything, he is too good in terms of policy changes, but he does not understand the stakeholder environment and thus helps authorize policies that please no one faction (eg, Equity coalition, Affluent down county parents, G&T parents) consistently. Thus we get decrees that are probably good for the long, long run (like getting rid of 50% rule or offering different magnet options), but very bad in the short run, primarily for him. |
| Should be an AI bot. Only will tell us what we want to hear. |
