Stopping immigration visas from certain countries

Will this affect immigrants from those countries who are already here? Like, if you have to renew your visa? And, if so, is there a different process for people whose work is sponsored by one of the international agencies like World Bank and IMF? Anyone know?

“The suspension, which will begin Jan. 21, will not apply to applicants seeking non-immigrant visas, or temporary tourist or business visas, who make up the vast majority of visa seekers. ”
““The new directive expanded those with more specific requirements. It said consular officials must consider a range of specific details about people seeking visas, including their age, health, family status, finances, education, skills and any past use of public assistance regardless of the country. It also said they should assess applicants’ English proficiency and can do so by conducting interviews in English.”

Immigrant visa is a term for family or asylum-based green cards. It will not affect workers who have visas sponsored by their employers.

What about the spouse of someone whose visa is sponsored by their employer?

They would get a dependent visa based on their spouse’s employment. This ruling would not affect them.

Trump had also begun detaining legal refugees, with refugee status and sending them to detention centers in different states. He arrested several Somali refugees in Minnesota, who aren't accused of any crime, and sent them to Texas.

It appears as if he has begun revoking refugee status of some refugees. This is terrible.

Non tourist visa processing stopping for low income dependent foreigners to USA.

Just like other countries now. Must prove you are healthy, able, solvent, skilled, educated, employable… to get a visa. Regardless of who or what is “pulling”’you in.

There go all the anchor babies turning age 18 trying to pull in their cash pay, uneducated, unskilled illegal economic migrant parents and cousins for citizenship.

Excellent policy if they truly are using data. Gotta stop the world wide grift.

Oh man, my grad school chinese and Indian friends were so excited putting their aunties, uncles and parents on the greencard family pull in list.
They figured over the 20 year wait, the elders would get old and then move to America for Medicaid, treatments, retirement and free childcare watching.

Most of central and South America is NOT on the list yet have the longest wait times to pull in.

Seems like mostly anti-western countries

This is not based on data and it will have detrimental impacts on US influence. Thailand is an ally of the US and this will push them towards other countries we don't get along with. Many of thes countries were willing to work with the US on foreign policy but they won't know that the US has banned all of their citizens.
