| How would someone process that? |
| Do you care to give a BIT more context? |
| Kids in this situation often transfer to a different school. |
| That’s tough!! Mine went to a college and one of the big draws was their program with a yearly event nearby that the kids could apply to work at-well he has been denied both years so far-it was hard for sure. |
| The point of college is to prepare for your career and the next phase of life. Greek life is only a tiny part of that experience. I don’t understand the great disappointment. I was a Kappa (one of the best houses on our campus) and I barely participated. Quite frankly, my overall experience would have similar without it. |
Yea, well, your experience isn't relevant or helpful. |
Are you the OP? Or just mean? My experience is relevant in the sense I’ve been there and done that and can say on the other side Greek life is seriously no big deal in the grad scheme of the “college experience”. If you are the OP - I think I know why your kid might have been denied (mean parents = mean kids). |
| A girl who lived across the hall from me in the dorms freshman year rushed but didn't get an offer from a sorority she wanted to join (she had very particular opinions about The Sorority she should belong to; they did not agree). She rushed again sophomore year, which was very unusual at our school, and got a bid from a different sorority that she decided was good enough. She then became the single biggest booster of that sorority I will ever meet, and I assume she's glad she went through the extra (slightly embarrassing) effort of trying again. |
| This is common with a small twist. Girl only wants a top sorority and drops when she doesn’t get it. Happened to my dd and friends at other schools as well. Honestly, she still likes the school two years later but the experience colored her experience for the worse. |
| OP, your Greek life thread from two days ago got deleted, yes? Why are frats the current bee in your bonnet? Not getting enough responses on your high school sports threads? People do love to fight about Greek life so you may get more hits here. |
You absolutely have not "been there and done that" -- you haven't experienced the pain of being rejected from every house. Stop talking. Seriously. Just stop. NP |
|
OP Greek life is not what your kid should have focused on
This is why we have so many idiots in the US |
Yea, well, as you say you've "been there and done that." OP's kid hasn't. You had the choice, and OP's kid hasn't. Neither relevant nor helpful. |
| You accept the fact that Greek life is for losers anyway and move on. |

They join other, non-exclusive clubs and make friends based on shared interests instead of drinking.
Or they fritter away their lives posting self-pitying posts on DCUM. Your decision, OP. |
