When will Fairfax County residents learn that Descano is bad news?

RESTON, Va. (7News) — 7News has learned that a man accused of committing a homicide a day after being released from jail is in the country illegally and faced numerous previous charges, including being charged in a separate murder without ever facing justice.

A man died after a shooting inside a home in Reston, Va., on Wednesday, according to the Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD).

From the afternoon well into the night, officers investigated at the home, which is at 12307 Fan Shell Court. After a manhunt, police arrested Marvin Morales-Ortez, 23, who they've named as the accused shooter.

ICE said Morales-Ortez was from El Salvador and was in the country illegally. In addition, court records indicate that since 2020, Morales-Ortez has been charged with at least seven crimes in Fairfax County, including several felonies, including a first-degree murder charge in 2021.

Every single time but one, the Fairfax County Commonwealth's Attorney's Office at some point decided to "nolle prosse" the case, meaning they declined to move forward with prosecuting it.

The only time Morales-Ortez was found guilty in a case was for theft. He was fined $300, which court records indicate he never paid.

I'd be more likely to agree with you had you not shared a tweet by a person who calls him Soros DA. You just lose credibility instantly. Perhaps find content where people are not name-calling others, and you may find others agree with you more often.

Sorry you don't like facts. If I wanted to name call, there are a plethora of names I could think of for this so-called DA.

"Descano raised or received almost a million dollars, more than double what his two opponents raised combined, for his bid to become chief prosecutor. Of that haul, over $75,000 came from Descano and his mother. But his two top donors combined for $659,054 – or 72% of Descano’s campaign war chest. And the lion’s share ($601,369) came from the Justice and Public Safety PAC, whose sole donor was George Soros, the liberal billionaire who finances progressive causes across the country and world. Soros is also a primary funder of Descano’s second largest donor, New Majority Virginia."

Why should he face the justice system in our country? He's not a citizen and would not be ajudicated by a jury of his peers.

He's awful

Where are you thinking? I’m thinking KY or TN.

There are two things happening here. One is dropping the charges. There's no ulterior motive here, the DA's office clearly didn't think there was enough to win those cases. The ICE detainer is a separate issue with arguments on both sides.

No, there are no arguments on both sides. If you are arrested for a crime and it is learned that you are in the country illegally, an ICE detainer needs to be lodged against you. Period, full stop.

Never, fails to understand the job is to protect the public, not release predators into the public.

I don't understand why it wasn't a priority to hold this person for deportation.

Because FCPS is full of people suffering from white guilt.

Does the name on the Twitter account change the facts of the case?

Because at some level, it would be considered to be working with Trump/ICE, and heaven forbid we have that.
