Biden was president for most of COVID and was far more divisive than anything that happened under Trump. Mask mandates, vaccine mandates, all unproven, six feet apart wasn't Trump, and that turned out to be based on nothing but one man's opinion not grounded in science. Misinformation/Disinformation censorship of things that turned out to be true. Wasn't Turnip but Biden's admin. Your point is? FYI Bush got huge flak for the wars and the failures of the war and Katrina. Are you saying the Dem leadership in California are exempt from criticism for an ongoing failure? |
| London burned in 1666. Chicago burned in 1871. San Francisco burned in 1906. But with all the universities, experts, & money in LA in 2025, they couldn’t figure out not to be added to this list? Maybe their beliefs or methods are flawed, & shouldn’t be funded unless they change? |
Oh stop. Biden inherited the divisiveness that Trump started. A war is not a natural disaster, so that point is dumb. Re Katrina, do you understand the difference in criticizing failure and threatening to withhold aid. Did Dems say they wanted conditions on aid going to Louisianans…no! Stop being willfully obtuse. |
No, nobody has figured out how to fight a wildfire with 80-100 mph winds which ground aircraft and turn water to mist. . Same with CAT 5+ hurricanes. You need to evacuate or you will die. |
|
There have been conditions on disaster relief before. Mississippi River flooding - FEMA required whole towns to move back from the river, etc. It is fine to require changes in exchange for subsidized re-building. |
The issue with that is the many videos emerging of local residents who did save their homes by using a hose/pump/swimming pool to save their homes. So in the face of this, it's very hard to maintain more fire engines and properly working hydrants would have been useless. |
Also, I’m sure you’re the one who didn’t bat an eye or care to rebuff your Dear Leader when Cornell found he was the biggest driver of misinformation in COVID, responsible for 38%. Trumpsters now are going hard on misinformation again. Rather than helping people on the ground. Shame on you! |
|
The conditional relief is absolutely appalling and I say that as an independent who has leaned Republican. You want to guarantee I vote/donate blue even if I hate most Democratic politicians? Do something wholly immoral like this. I largely dislike the Democratic Party and yet they have never made made relief conditional to victims of natural disasters. It is grotesque. I have never seen blue state residents or blue politicians make aid to hurricane victims conditional. That is a red state/Republican value in action. |

It’s amazing how all our major cities are completely dominated by Democrats, yet when something goes wrong, it’s always Trump and the Republicans that are the problem.
The Chicago schools suck. Crime in NYC. Homelessness in San Francisco. A Minneapolis cop kills a guy. Now fire in LA. Not a Republican leader in sight…not city, not state. But somehow the Democrats are always doing everything right & are indignant about changing. |
Yawn. Try harder. |
Truth hurts. I guess that’s why Rs so vehemently deny it. |
|
It’s just like FoxNews. It’s “entertainment”. |
Right, so why post it as info? |
There is a cost for preparedness. They could have made changes that could have mitigated the spread of wildfires with these extreme conditions, but at an extreme cost. Do you plan for the 50 year flood, the 100 year flood, or the 500 year flood? It’s about balancing resources while managing risk. |
It would have happened in any state, red or blue, regardless of how resources are managed. It was not preventable under those conditions. To withhold aid to disaster victims shows how low, divided, and petty we have become as a country. |
