22:03 here, Uh... No. The committee recognize it, and my kid is in AAP. I'm OK with the overall process.

You seem to be a newbie. Read previous 86 pages and come back. You would recognize the one resident troll assuming you are not the one.

bye guys. have fun trolling and troll-hating throughout summer.

I'm out too. Good summer all. Congrats to successful appealers. For folks whose appeals were not successful, best wishes for next year. Your kids are lucky to have parents who care.

Thanks all for posting scores to help future appealers. Delighted to see WISC scores in the 120's overcoming GBRS of 8.

My final thought about troll:

When will Washington City Paper do a story on this thread? I can't wait for others to read about the Tiger Mothers here whose egos can't handle the thought that their child isn't gifted.

LOL. Was it worth putting your child through rejection again?

My theory of the troll:

A person who is really jealous because their pwecious didn't make it into the program and they couldn't afford to appeal.

Or a person whose child got into the program in the first round but doesn't want pwecious competing for top grades with "unworthy" kids who got in on appeal.

A person who wants her kids class to to have as few in it, and wants to discourage anyone else from coming in.

Could be...the thing they do not realize is if the threshold is reduced such that only 3% are admitted, that would reduce the political will to continue the program.

But most of the kids on the thread made it.

Maybe create a thread about 'Didn't make AAP'.

With combination of mental problem.

Nobody will be discouraged by trolling.

Nobody cares about your stupid troll theories. You sound ignorant and immature.

Doubt it. Those who got rejected again don't bother to post the disappointing news. And most of the posts about acceptances are either outright lies or repeat posts by the same people.

Then you don't have to worry about overcrowding? Not many kids make it via appeals anyways?

First of all, you are contradicting yourself. Make up your mind first.

The appeals process is a critical element. People that put forth wisc scores get in 70-90% on appeal, those that do not are less likely to get in.

The thing is, if I am thinking of appealing, and get the WISC score, and it comes in at 115 or 120, I am less likely to appeal (or use the score on appeal). A 115 on appeal will not be accepted.

So, the people with WISC scores who appeal (which is most of the people on the forum) will have greater than 125...

Here is the fact by official report from FCPS!.
http://www.boarddocs.com/vsba/fairfax/board.nsf/39c6389c088be51585256e56000c1bf2/2b1b2b585a5d305e852570fb004f3f9f/$FILE/Gifted%20and%20Talented%20Center%20Program.pdf

Look page 11, acceptance rate with score is very high. Especially the latest data available which is 2005 shows 92% success rate.

Thus, I conclude most of the kids on the thread made it.

But... I know.... Facts and Logic don't do any good for you...

PP you prove the point about the low bar set by committe for the appeal process. that only proves that they are encouraging the appeal process for money? i wonder how many on average go through the appeal process?
