19 and 14 year old boys - gift ideas besides clothing?

Anonymous
I have two boys--a sophomore in college and a sophomore in high school. Both are fit, sporty and pretty typical in the types of stuff they like (athletic clothing, gadgets). I would be appreciative of any ideas people would like to offer. thanks

I highly recommend having them use a gift list maker with links. My ds put stuff on there I'd never have thought about (some sort of work out straps, shoes I'd not have thought was in, specific workout clothes, a non-smart watch...)

Why not buy them both a learn-to-knit kit, hmmm?

Boys can and should knit too.

Sure why not buy them a butter churn too.

Our 14 yo DS is getting a hoodie for his school sports team and a cozy comforter as an upgrade from a quilt he's had since he was little. Other items focus on his specific interests. He likes to garden, so he's getting an indoor herb garden. He still likes Legos (even though not as much as he used to), so he'll probably get a Lego technic model car set. Last year for his birthday and Christmas, he received expensive equipment for his sport and a mountain bike and a giant bean bag chair for his bedroom. Other interest-based gifts could include kitchen/cooking gadgets, cookbooks, nice drawing pens/sketchpad, etc. Other things he's asked for are a gaming chair (and an electric scooter, although that's a hard no).

PP here. We also always give books. If we can't think of something new that we think he'd like in terms of novels, we look for a cool coffee table book in an area of interest.

Tickets to sporting event of local team
Movie theater gift cards so they can go with friends
Gift card to their fav "hang out / eat at place" -- Chipotle, wherever.

I am assuming that both sons need to fund their own outside school/home lifestyles -- e.g., they pay when eating out with friends, going to movies with buddies, etc.

I have a 16 year old high school sophomore boy. He is asking for a portable bluetooth speaker, a new fishing pole, and renewal of his gym membership that we got him last year for Christmas.

Thank you for the great ideas! --OP

Modretro chromatic (basically a remake of the gameboy). Currently has a lot of hype on gift lists if you follow those sorts of things.
