Thoughts? Looks like the UVA agmt? Not as crazy as Brown or Columbia? Right?

Witted fools |
| I love that the money they are paying in a fine is going to research on farmers in the Ag school. This is the way to use the fines to help the country. |
So, these forced settlements with colleges are going to fix problems for farmers that Trump has screwed over? What a world we are living in where this is applauded. |

“Cornell is expected to pay the federal government $30 million over three years, according to the text of the agreement”
UVA didn’t have to pay. |
| Oh Cornell it's not gorges |
Brown paid the money to local trade schools, not the government. That’s a better deal. |
| They are basically being blackmailed and have no choice |
| UVA did too : - ( |
| The schools are settling bc they know they weren’t complying with SFFA. Or Ames, for that matter. |
This. |
Oh, give me a break. They are settling because they are basically dealing with the mafia. |
This. It's disgusting to see the federal government shaking them down. Pretty clear the schools won't be left alone until they give a press-release-worthy concession. I read $30M to feds and $30M to farm research in exchange for releasing $1B in frozen research grants. |
| It’s a great deal. |

From Reddit:
Unironically it is a good thing for the university. They paid 30m to unlock 250m of funding. To all the undergrads who were probably not gonna be affected by this one way or another, do you really think the university didn't do a cost benefit analysis before reaching this conclusion? The only question should be why this conclusion wasn't reached sooner. I'm sure all the ones concerned about morals and principles are those undergrads, not phd students or professors who are actually in need of those funds. |
