We know a couple who both lost their jobs (he was at USAID, and she worked for dept. of Ed). It ws awful! They had to move in with her parents in the Midwest and enroll both kids out there.
How likely is it they will get their jobs back after the midterms? |
| Nothing will change until a new administration. |
| Congress refuses to do anything. |
|
Congress could do it even without a change in administration, but they would need the numbers and will to kick out the bureaucrats who think Congress doesn't control spending. The midterms alone are probably not enough of a change to get that done.
Also, whatever we end up with, it won't be a roll back to how things used to be. There might be a USAID 2.0 they can apply to, some day, but not just a blanket reinstatement of programs and staff. |
| I seriously doubt President Vance will bring back USAID and Dept of Education. |
| No, OP. How do you think that would work? |

+1. I doubt it will be 2028 though. |
Vance/Rubio through 2036. Then it will be Rubio’s turn. |
How old are they? Why do they want to get back? Can they find a job in the private sector? |
| I don’t get the impression that democrats want usaid or ed back in the same capacity that they were prior. They just say it but I don’t think it has teeth. |
| Troll post |
| “When “we” win the midterms”? Why do you presume everyone here is a Democrat, OP? |
Who is we? We already won in 2024. |
| What makes you think dems will win midterms? This admin is doing everything it can in court to prevent that. |
