CogAT this year for 2nd grade

Anonymous
Our son's CogAT is scheduled for 19-21st of OCT (He's in grade 2, Fairfax county). Does anyone know which version it will be (Grade 2 Primary or MultiLevel)?

Also does anyone know which areas are tested on each day and how long is the test each day? Number of questions for each area, etc?

Appreciate any input!

The CogAT is read to them by the teacher - so I'm not sure about the exact timing of the test. There were 48 questions per section when my daughter took it last year in second grade. I believe verbal was tested first.

Good grief.

Just send him to school and let him take the test with the rest of his class!

When my DC took the test two years ago in 2nd grade, it was CogAT Form 6, Level 2. It had three parts: Verbal, Quantitative, and Nonverbal. There were 48 questions in each of the three parts. Not sure which they did first.

I think she wants to prep him. So he can have an edge over the other kiddies.

Thanks everyone for the responses and the details!

To the "Good Grief" poster.. Of course, I want to prep him, don't we all? Isn't that why we read and post to these forums? or do we just post here to kill time? .

No worries. The screening committee is onto folks that are cheating and prepping kids on these tests.

I just gave DC a pep-talk on the way to the bus stop. DC got in! No appeal needed of course.

Did you pay more money for a fast track response?

I wonder why some parents pay GMU to have them administer the test to their kids.

Because they don't get the scores they want from the CogAt and NNAT. These are "flawed" tests and may not reflect the true giftedness of some kids.
