Always interesting data. Arlington favors VT, JMU and UVA but also loves tougher schools like Michigan, UNC and Wisconsin.

UVA is head shoulders over UNC and Wisconsin. Michigan depends on major. |

Actually, no. I’m in Arlington. Kid is at UVA. I’ll correct that Wisconsin may not be tougher than UVA. UNC and Michigan are. |

UVA 18 percent
W&M 28 percent VT 33 percent Tough numbers. Actually all the numbers for the top 20 are depressing. |

In percentage terms, only UNC and Michigan are tougher admits than UVA. Wisconsin and Maryland both have admit rates in the 20s, which is tough but not UVA tough.
The PA schools (Pitt and Penn State) are easy admits, taking well over half their applicants. They’re basically JMU level. The other OOS flagships fall somewhere in between all of this. |
