Like seriously. What are you all thinking? What?

This. Cannot get over all the office Christmas party photos I'm seeing on Facebook, in DC, friend and acquaintances who I know are vaccinated just merrily gathering in large groups, indoors and unmasked. I do not get it. And I'm someone who's pretty tired of all of this, have flown, send my kid to public school in his mask and hope for the best, but frigging maskless, indoor office parties are just triggering me. STOP IT.

If you are traveling, dining out, socializing, kids in person school, shop outseide necessities you are no better than they are.

It's so odd that those are my only two options.

We do...

1.) In person school.

Used to do a masked social club get-together, but... apparently the masked part was too freaking hard.

I believe in the greater good. I believe in social responsibility. I believe in indoor classes, schools staying open, and that masks work. If I actually trusted my fellow human beings more I might shop for pleasure, or travel, or socialize (masked.). But if this pandemic had taught me anything it is that this world is a terrible place full of selfish, illogical people, who have no concept of cause and effect or long-term consequence. They also seem really bad at math.

Masks help. Vaccines help. But neither will get us out of this mess right now. I hardly doubt you are being cautious while you criticize others if you believe everything should be indoors.

If they're not wearing a well fitting, high quality mask to begin with, statistically speaking it probably doesn't matter if the cloth mask is hanging around their chin. It just doesn't matter. And no, if your kids are at school, you're not "hunkered." Your kids would be in VA. I'm not judging you, we have in person school/work too! But we don't claim to be hunkered.

Perhaps I should have said I believe in in-person school, not indoor. Id be thrilled if they held it outdoors. But you all are delicate Dixie flowers and you'd whine.

Something is not always one thing or another. Let me try and speak a language your social justice classes have taught you to understand: risk mitigation is a on spectrum. There are things that have higher risks and things that have lower. There are activities where the reward is "worth it" and activities where it is not. There are activities where the risk to others is also a concern, and, again, activities where it is less of one.

I feel like the English classes at your Russian troll farm haven't really covered this level of linguistic relativity. And yes, spectrum isn't really the right word, either. I just thought it might be one you'd have come across when you were trolling the teenagers on TikTok. You know, at your second job?

Why do people say "spiking" when they mean "going up"?

It's an exciting Covid word posters learned to use to bring the drama.

I think the more relevant question now is - will MCPS start the winter break early?

Don't see any indication that MCPS will start the winter break early. There are only a few days left.

It's probably too late to make the three days next week virtual, but now that PG has set a precedent, who knows.

You don't have a "spike" until cases also come back down.
