She sure did. I'm going to watch it again with my teenage kids tomorrow. A lot to be learned from her thoughtful, fact-based speech. What a nice change that she could present her ideas without all the emotion. She laid it out like a lawyer would.

Yeahhh I bet you are a blonde Republican Mom who drives a big black Escalade.

Collins isn’t a lawyer. She’s just a BA, and four terms in when she promised no more than two when she first ran.

That's the lot of a politician. Faustian bargain indeed.

What Dr. Blasey Ford did is not for naught, however. She showed up, she was credible, she was heard. Even though the nominee is going to be confirmed, the cause of women advanced a little, from where it was with Anita Hill. Hopefully the next time this happens, enough people will agree that the accused cannot take the job.

How did you feel about the sworn statement from a man who had a relationship with her for approximately 10 years?

it was a letter, not a sworn statement. He felt compelled to write that she hadn't told him of the assault - yeah, we got that because that is exactly what she testified. She didn't say, and I told my ex too, did she? He was just looking to be an ass.

“the cause of women advanced a little”, and all it took was to drag one man, his wife, daughters, and community through hell, while further dividing the country and weakening the Supreme Court. But sure, it “advanced the cause of women.”

I'm sorry, are you seriously blaming Dr. Ford for weakening the Supreme Court, and for dividing the country???? THAT WAS ALL ON KAVANAUGH.

+1

I have never had any internet social connections and feel that my life has been all the better having done so. I also see things from a position of belief but without political affiliations and believe the partisan divide in our nation is akin to the racism that existed 50+ years ago.

Republicans are tied closely to racism now. I am not tolerating it anymore. You want to complain about players taking a knee? I'm not listening to that crap. You want to complain about immigrants? I'm not listening to that crap either.

Why stop there? Why not hate and distance yourself from all bigotry? Race, religious, political...all of it.

It is like all of his missing documents. The republicans pushed him through anyway. They don't care what they are confirming.

Good.

You are not being given half a million pages to play gotcha with!

Which is why I keep saying: anyone who votes yes on Kavanaugh is part of a criminal conspiracy. The GOPers would like to pretend that Brett is sweetness and light, but he is a dirty political operative nominated to fill the seat of a man who had his clerks chosen and who, after visiting Trump at the White House, abruptly resigned and whose son was Trump’s banker at Deutsche Bank, and who was paid off by some mysterious deep pocketed special interest...

Nothing, nothing, nothing about this is on the up and up.

I keep imagining Justice Roberts calling flake, manchin, and Sasse to tell them to vote down, we the justices dont want him here.

yes it is bad.

I know that the people who voted for trump and who wanted kavanaugh are being suckered like the rest of us, but I still blame them for their gullibility.

We are all getting screwed over here. Trump is no more a republican than a rat could be. He is only for himself. I am so angry with republicans letting their party be co-opted and then agree with these senators for not standing up to him.

BTW...how can one tout the unsubstantiated that seems to contradict one and ignore the same against the other?

I wish it weren't so but there is a HELL of a lot of that on both sides of this.

Meanwhile WSJ goes with a rape joke in their editorial headline about Collins:

Keep it klassy, WSJ.

It would have been nice to have a REAL FBI INVESTIGATION because they would have gone to interview him. Something like 1/4 of PTSD is delayed onset. Her not being claustrophobic or needing two exits may not have been an issue for her back then, that doesn't mean it isn't an issue later. https://www.verywellmind.com/delayed-onset-ptsd-meaning-and-reasons-2797636

The only thing in his letter that it suspicious is the polygraph, but her friend has already put on the record that she did NOT prep her for it. He sounds like an ass to come forward and act like she is lying because she didn't tell him about the assault, so I find him questionable in his reliability anyway.

The information on Kavanaugh isn't going to stop coming. Just because he's confirmed doesn't mean the spigot is suddenly shut off. There's just too much.

I think so too. There is a reason they did a limited scope and limited time investigation. He wouldn't have passed otherwise.

I think there will be enough that he could be impeached and removed later.
