Agree. Collins is a pompous ass.

That's the lot of a politician. Faustian bargain indeed.

What Dr. Blasey Ford did is not for naught, however. She showed up, she was credible, she was heard. Even though the nominee is going to be confirmed, the cause of women advanced a little, from where it was with Anita Hill. Hopefully the next time this happens, enough people will agree that the accused cannot take the job.

How did you feel about the sworn statement from a man who had a relationship with her for approximately 10 years?

She sure did. I'm going to watch it again with my teenage kids tomorrow. A lot to be learned from her thoughtful, fact-based speech. What a nice change that she could present her ideas without all the emotion. She laid it out like a lawyer would.

Yeahhh I bet you are a blonde Republican Mom who drives a big black Escalade.

it was a letter, not a sworn statement. He felt compelled to write that she hadn't told him of the assault - yeah, we got that because that is exactly what she testified. She didn't say, and I told my ex too, did she? He was just looking to be an ass.

I have never had any internet social connections and feel that my life has been all the better having done so. I also see things from a position of belief but without political affiliations and believe the partisan divide in our nation is akin to the racism that existed 50+ years ago.

Republicans are tied closely to racism now. I am not tolerating it anymore. You want to complain about players taking a knee? I'm not listening to that crap. You want to complain about immigrants? I'm not listening to that crap either.

“the cause of women advanced a little”, and all it took was to drag one man, his wife, daughters, and community through hell, while further dividing the country and weakening the Supreme Court. But sure, it “advanced the cause of women.”

Yes Susan Collins gave a big speech today but the speech that I will remember well past this nomination is Kavanaugh ‘s angry, partisan speech from last Thursday.
When Gorsuch was confirmed I can’t say I was happy but I certainly wasn’t upset- he was a qualified and fit Conservative jurist. Kavanaugh is a political creature. There were hints in his decade long career as WH staff secretary and his highly partisan actions during the Ken Starr investigation and of course during Memogate.
I am really upset that someone like him would have the support (in many cases full throated support) of all but one Republican senator.

The reports on this, more than one, stated it was a sworn statement.

Was it not also presented and therefore also done so under the penalty of perjury?
