2025 Boys Private School Results /Game Schedules/ Commentary

Compare that to Bullis scoring 11.5 pg (throwing out 2 blowouts) and winning 65% on possession. Speaks may want to consider some alternatives including running a different fo out once in a while and playing more than one of those heralded 27's.

The defense is great, and they have 2 maybe 3 27’s that play on offense. Those kids are lucky to be playing due to 2 starters now being out on offense.

St. John’s will be fine. They will be there at the end.

Keep telling yourself that to feel good

Latest US Lacrosse Top 25 Rankings are linked below - these were published yesterday so don't factor in yesterday's results.

Only two DMV area teams ranked in the top 25. Landon at #17 and Bullis at #25.

A major down year for IAC / WCAC.

Respectfully who else. They are so talented, just wait till they figure out the faceoffs (which they did last year).

Those rankings are crap. Choate at 11? They lost to Springside Chestnut Hill.

Wait till all you nobody’s hear the news. Ryan duenkle is returning for the rest of the season. He returns to Military Road as he need 0.5 of a credit, and He still has a year of eligibility. The WCAC will NEVER be the same.

But he is still injured.

I think these rankings are better than Inside Lacrosse which has a hard-on from the MIAA.

Malvern Prep lost yesterday to Episcopal Academy.

I'm getting a little tired of all the "DMV lax is down" talk. The talent level across the DMV is higher than it's ever been. It's just more spread out. The top player talent is always going to ebb and flow to some extent, but across the middle, it's never been stronger.

talent is not just going to GZ, Landon, Prep or Bullis or SJC anymore.

local talent is spreading to GC and even the Heights now.

I view this as a good thing for area lacrosse.

Anonymous wrote:GZ dad here, best local teams they've played this year IMO have been Prep and Bullis, in that order.

Out of conference, McDonogh is really good. Culver obviously is great but IMO they're more like a Salisbury/Lawrenceville/Loomis type team now with post-grads so a different weight class.

I've seen plenty of good/bad/average with our own team and also every team we've played against. Even Ireton last week was frisky. Talent is diluted throughout the area so lots of parity. Last night GZ had a seven goal lead on PVI and PVI closed within three in the fourth quarter. Seems like anyone can beat anyone this season so teams like GC, Dematha, GC and even The Heights have got to think they can make some noise in the WCAC. If you qualify for the tournament you def have a shot.

I agree w/ this rational GZ dad take, which is rare for DCUM lax comments. We played Ireton yesterday and to be fair only had a 3 goal lead in 4th until we pulled away, but they were much improved compared to last year. The top WCAC teams don’t have the separation from the pack like last few years. We will find out soon enough how we stack up against GZ, SJC, and GC but anyone who says this years playoffs are anything but wide open hasn’t been watching enough games.

If your kid doesn't play at SJC why do you care so much about what Speaks does or doesn't do?

My kid does play there. Parents can criticize their own team.

So we have a rat. Go talk to Speaks about it instead of complaining here. Or better yet take your kid and leave.

Typical. Can't criticize if you aren't part of it, told to leave if you criticize. You are obviously a student. Any parent knows they've been told not to interfere or your kid will be punished. You are correct in one thing, the only remedy is to leave a school bc a coach will never admit they've made mistakes and can make a change. I'll make a dcum guess and say you are the 3-15 fogo.

my kid got recruited by SJC and I am so glad he didn't go - sounds like exactly the toxic environment we were told it was

the former HC at Saint Stephens, Todds went to Ireton I believe.

He did good things at Saint Stephens with a limited lacrosse / recruiting budget.

Give him time and the right resources, he could make Ireton pretty competitive in the WCAC which we would all agree, would be a good thing for DC lacrosse.

If you are the parent of a 7th/8th grader reading this thread, take notes:

--your kid may not mature/grow physically and may not make varsity by 11th grade
--your kid may make varsity, but the coach may prefer someone else at his position
--your kid may lose form/interest and lose playing time
--the coach that recruited you (or just attracted you to the program) may leave
--your kid could get injured or just lose interest or just get fed up with all the BS that comes with club/school lax around here

If any of this happens, would you STILL want your kid at that school? For me personally, answer is yes. My kid has D1/high D3 aspirations and I would love that to happen for him but no way we would transfer from his current school if any of the above happened. Lacrosse was part of why we picked the school but it was one of many factors and not the most important, at all.

No idea if this "many SJC players want to transfer" thing is real or not but FFS no way I would uproot my kid from his school, teachers, friends and other activities just because it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows for him on the lacrosse field.
