Lebanon / Israel

2 people died. Tragic, yes. But details are important here.

Here’s a friendly reminder that Israel has not received any deadly attacks inside the country since 10/7.

Hezbollah rockets are intercepted and there are alarms in every Israeli neighborhood except the Arab ones (wonder why?) to alert them of incoming fire and to seek underground shelter.

Israel has evacuated most of Haifa, the border city of Lebanon, to avoid casualty so Hezbollah has not been able to hurt a fly in Israel

60 people have died in Israel.

Yes, nothing like in Lebanon.

But stop lying.

Honestly this whole discussion about genocide is a trick to turn our attention away from the DEATH and DESTRUCTION Israel is inflicting.

Have any of you been to the Bekaa valley? I (a Jew!) travelled there in 2003. I took public transportation everywhere (they had a great mini bus system) . No one was anything but lovely to me. The land was beautiful. The antiquities plentiful. The food amazing.

My friend’s in laws live there. Why? They are not Hezbollah. But the Lebanese banking system froze assets in the banks a year or so ago and they no longer have access to a lifetime of saving for retirement. So they sold their apartment in Beirut and bought a cheaper place in the countryside. Their new town is getting bombed. They are well educated, non extremists.

Israel is lying when they say they are targeting Hezbollah only.

Israel is lying when they said they are attacking as defense.

Israel has been evacuating residents from the north since June. The Lebanese have been predicting war since.

The attack is premeditated murder.

Of course Hamas committed atrocities. Of course Hezbollah should not fire into Israel. But what Israel is doing to Gaza and Lebanon is horrible. And why we call that out is that our tax dollars are funding it.

Arabs are not the enemy.
Persians are not the enemy.
Muslims are not the enemy.
Extremist are the enemy and they reside in Israel too.

I, also Jewish, disagree.

I have close family in Jerusalem and Haifa.

The problem is on 10/8/23, Hezbollah started to fire rockets and missions into Israel. The day after Hamas attacked.

Israel did not bomb Gaza until 10/13 and attack on the ground until 10/27.

So why did Hezbollah shoot missiles into Israel on 10/8.

It’s because they are Terrorists. Hezbollah control all factions of the Lebanese government. Hezbollah is essentially Lebanon. You can’t separate them.

So after me enduring one year of misdialed from Hezbollah. Israel has every right to attack them them back and destroy Hezbollah.

The fact you are defending a terrorist group who has killed Americans and will cheer when many more die, is insane.

The bolded are NOT TRUE.

Israel started bombing Gaza on 10/7, shortly after the start of the Hamas attack.

By 10/8, hundreds of Palestinians had been killed in Gaza, including many, children and women. Entire multi-story residential buildings in Gaza had been destroyed by then.

Also, Hezbollah did not fire rockets into Israel on 10/8. They fired into the area known as Shebaa Farms.

Both Syria and Lebanon consider Shebaa farms as Lebanese territory. Shebaa Farms is NOT considered Israel by almost the entire world.

In response, Israel fired into Lebanon and wounded several people. Therefore, Israel fired into Lebanon BEFORE Hezbollah fired rockets into Israel. They fired into what almost the entire world view as occupied territory that is not a part of Israel.

https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/israel-strikes-lebanon-after-hezbollah-hits-shebaa-farms-2023-10-08/

The situation with Shebaa Farms is more complicated than you’re making it out to be.

The U.N. certified the border. Lebanon and Syria claim its Lebanese territory, but the UN did certify the Israeli pullout.

UN certified the withdrawal of Israel from Lebanese territory in 2000. But the UN did not state that the Shebaa Farms area is a part of Israel, and they have never stated that it is Israel. The UN views the land as Syrian; Syria and Lebanon view it as Lebanon.

I don't think anybody besides Israel and the US, view it as Israel.

Any statement that Hezbollah fired into Israel on 10/8 or that Hezbollah fired into Israel before Israel fired into Lebanon is incorrect. Because Shebaa Farms is not Israel. It is only true from the Israeli perspective. But the UN and Lebanon have a different perspective on what land is considered Israel.

FFS, why are you even indulging this mouth breather with "Lebanon and Syria think it belongs to Syria" talk? It's NOT Israel. It's Syrian land. International law dictates that it's not Israel's land, nor will it ever be recognized by the international community as part of Israel.

Next!

Sounds like it also won’t ever be considered Lebanese land.

So Hezbollah can’t have been justified in striking Shebaa Farms, under your logic.

Hezbollah is a non-state entity, right? They don’t represent Lebanon.

Regardless, Israel has no legitimate right to respond to military acts that don’t involve their own territory, or even that involve their own citizens on foreign soil. Doing so means THEY initiated acts of war by responding with rocket and mission activity into Lebanon, and they should be treated by the U.S. like we treat Russian incursions into Ukraine, no different.

Comparing Hezbollah to Ukraine is ridiculous.

Hezbollah’s entire goal is to destroy Israel. They’ve targeted Israel incessantly, including during ceasefire periods.

In contrast, Ukraine has done absolutely nothing to provoke Russia.

F off already - I have no use for Hezbollah (or Hamas, or frankly Israel), but everyone with a pulse and a goddamned ounce of integrity knows that Hezbollah's goal is one thing: to fend off Israel's constant, ceaseless, endless provocations in the region. Israel is the main problem. You are part of that main problem.

The radical, extremist Zionists (REZ) here in the U.S. and in Israel (and wherever these evildoers dwell) are the absolute worst. Call it anti-semitism, call it whatever TF you want, nobody is buying your desperate attempts to characterize criticisms of the vile REZ as criticisms of all Jewish people, including the many here in the U.S. who are disgusted with the actions and policies of Israel ... you and the rest of the REZ are your own worst enemy because you are INCAPABLE of coexisting with others. You are despicable, and more than deserving of any and all misfortune that the universe can possibly shower you with. Be gone already.

2 people lived in six apartment buildings. At least be a decent human being and say you’re sorry. This is why they don’t have sympathy when it happens to Israel

It’s also completely false that there aren’t alarms in Arab neighborhoods.

Again — stop lying.

Huh?? Hezbollah is massively well armed.

If that's true, then Hezbollah has 10x the moral commitment to world peace than Israel because we have't seen jack shit in the way of a response to Israel's atrocities in Lebanon. They are so massively well armed, and yet they are demonstrating restraint that the rabid leadership in Israel clearly lacks.

Could you imagine the wall to wall coverage on Us media if Hezbollah destroyed six residential buildings in Israel?

Israel is lying when they say Hezbollah caused mass casualties to them this year and claiming the Golan heights syrian kids as Israeli deaths is the epitome of their deceptive yet comedic ways. They know most Americans are operating on low information about the region and would assume a Golan heights soccer field tragedy technically is Israeli.

Israel is the epitome of dumb. The drama is happening south (in Rafah and Egypt) and yet they focus on the north.

In no time Hamas will have their Underground Railroad inside Tel Aviv and the idf headquarters with the stupidity the Israeli admin is operating with
Anonymous
If the wise guys were smart, they’d realize if Hamas has tunnels secretly inside Egypt that means they could secretly build inside Israel too but that sounds too much like right to be done.

Instead of collaborating with Egypt and going there to snoop around, they’re focusing on the northern country miles and miles away from Gaza Strip
Anonymous
Hamas is not supplying itself or has access to Lebanon and Iran. They only have access to Egypt and Israel knows this

What the hell are you talking about? They’re launching over 100 rockets a day.

DP. You and Israel will never be able to win the war of "who's done the greatest harm, and degraded world peace the most" argument. Just save it.

If Israel doesn't undergo massive reform, there are two paths remaining. Either Israel will continue to be the single greatest impediment to world peace in our lifetimes, or a great pendulum swing will occur to right an endless list of wrongs committed by Israel over the past 76 years.

The more you persist with this defense of Israel's actions and policies, the more civilized people begin to simmer with outrage and hope that the pendulum swing is fully unforgiving in its effect.
