This just proves you know nothing. Even my covid brain knows the opposite is true. Her songwriting has been praised by many many including the very best of songwriters: Paul McCartney, Billy Joel, Dolly Parton, Stevie Nicks, John Mayer, Ed Sheeran and on and on. Not to mention the gazillion industry and artist voted awards she’s won, a barrel full of Grammys and a gazillion other. I’m sure others can fill in with facts. I hate this thread.

Out of curiosity, I looked up what Dolly had to say about Taylor. While Dolly was very gracious, she didn’t actually have anything nice to say. Dolly said that she doesn’t follow Taylor’s music, that touring is hard, so props to Taylor for doing it, and last but not least that she (Dolly) would be just there to work on the half-time show and wouldn’t be in the crowd watching before of after. That’s hardly an example of gushing praise.

I hate this thread too, because it shows me how fanatical people can get about a middling talent.

Dolly: “Taylor, she’s a great writer”

See, multiple sources (apparently not the one you chose to “look up”).

Dolly was just being kind.

None of the musicians listed could name a Taylor Swift song if asked, except for maybe Billy Joel who has young children.

Name artists/writers/producers in Taylor’s age range that have praised her music.

And I know this because I am omniscient and know the personal thoughts of every single artist who has ever commented favorably about Taylor Swift.
And I know when people say things that are true and when they are not.
And I know the personal reasons that tons of artists have seen the eras tour, including: Emma Roberts, Emma Stone, Hair, Laura Dean, Shania Twain, Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Lawrence, Keith Urban, Adam Sandler, Ellen Pompeo, Gigi Hadid, Selena Gomez, Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Reese Witherspoon, Katie Couric, Diplo, Arron Rogers, Trevor Kelce, JJ Watt, Emily Blunt, Ethan Hawke, Jessica Chastain, Jeff Goodblum, Billy Joel, Kerry Washington, Halsey, Jimmy Fallon, Cameron Diaz, Zoe Saldana, Charlize Theron, Jessica Alba, Channing Tatum, Paula Abdul, Maren Morris, Kelsea Ballerini, and scores of others.

I’m not sure why Gigi Hadid is being held up as any sort of “artist,” but if you think that anyone of those people listed above paid a single cent to see Taylor’s concert, I have a bridge to sell you.

oh ffs, Gigi Hadid is an international model, one of the highest paid in the world, with 80 MILLION ig followers.

I also know for certain how each much each of these people paid to travel to and see the concert. Because I'm smart like that. And it matters not one iota:
Emma Roberts, Emma Stone, Hair, Laura Dean, Shania Twain, Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Lawrence, Keith Urban, Adam Sandler, Ellen Pompeo, Selena Gomez, Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Reese Witherspoon, Katie Couric, Diplo, Aaron Rogers, Trevor Kelce, JJ Watt, Emily Blunt, Ethan Hawke, Jessica Chastain, Jeff Goodblum, Billy Joel, Kerry Washington, Halsey, Jimmy Fallon, Cameron Diaz, Zoe Saldana, Charlize Theron, Jessica Alba, Channing Tatum, Paula Abdul, Maren Morris, Kelsea Ballerini, and scores of others.

Lol I like imagining there's a third Kelce brother named Trevor who had to take a Southwest Airlines flight to Phoenix and put himself up in an AirBnB and pay for his own nosebleed seats for the Eras tour.

you really had to dig deep to look for the BIG LIE! It's TRAVIS NOT TREVOR!! Thank you for exposing the BIG LIARS! We're all so thankful you're spending your day and research/proofreading skills on this thread!!

I was making a joke, dude. This thread is for fun.

I never say this but: touch grass. You are WAY over invested in this.

yes that's why I leave nothing to chance! She's awful!! Pls agree with me

You've lost the plot. I never said she was awful.

The literal title of the thread and your failed goal to prove. Maybe choose a different New Year’s resolution.

I posted a joke about an imaginary Kelce brother having to pay his own way to a Taylor Swift concert, a mental image I continue to find funny. Like on the Good Place when Tahani dates the fourth Hemsworth brother, Larry Hemsworth. Jokes. Laughter. Not taking everything so freaking seriously. These are concepts I suggest you look into as it will lower your blood pressure and lengthen your life.

I didn't start the thread and obviously not everyone who posts here is endorsing the title of the thread. It's just a dumb thread on a dumb website. I wanted to write "about a dumb celebrity" and then almost didn't because I was like "ack, this person will freak out if I call Taylor Swift a dumb celebrity," but you know what, I don't care. She is! Most celebs are dumb. Hollywood is dumb. Most pop music is dumb. I like some if it but I can admit it's kind of dumb.

Anyway, learn to take a joke.
I wish I was a ‘dumb’ billionaire

I wonder if it's actually you that is jealous of Taylor Swift, and the reason you are so upset when people criticize her is that it feels like an attack on your most fervent dream, which is to BE Taylor Swift. That's why you are taking this so personally.

Whereas I have zero interest in Taylor Swift's life or lifestyle, even the money which I think at some point becomes a burden (I'd aim for low-level millionaire with privacy, personally), so a conversation about her doesn't feel very personal to me and therefore I don't become unhinged with fury when someone disagrees with me or says something I don't like.

Food for thought.

When I have zero interest in someone, I don’t even bother opening threads about them. Yet here you are, posting obsessively.
plus 1. She’s definitely unhinged

Most men don’t like Taylor because she’s neither a good singer nor conventionally attractive. For instance, Britney and Beyoncé have t and a, Taylor is a flat pancake and well, pretty manly looking in the jaw. She has horrific posture. None of these qualities are appealing to most men. (Her legs are her only decent feature and they’re not that great.) Plus, she sings songs about teenage heartbreak. But, of course, there are always exceptions, so you do you, Big Guy.

Also, it’s not one person posting that she doesn’t like Taylor Swift’s music. There are many, many of us. (For instance, my husband posted the above comments about her looks.) Anyway, it’s time for evening line up, Inmate #Crazy.

That’s the most pathetic thing I’ve ever seen on this board.
yep, her husband and her have an interesting relationship. ‘Honey, what do you want to do tonight? Wife- ‘hmmm, let’s post how together about how bad Taylor Swift looks’.

Your sanctimony is ridiculous. I’m sure you and your partner have never, ever discussed which celebrities you do or don’t find attractive and why. Never. You’re above that, lol. That’s why you’re trolling the entertainment board of DC Urban Moms.
Also, no I’ve never participated in one thread where the basic is the unattractiveness ok attractiveness of the subject of the thread, meaning I wouldn’t call someone unattractive, anyway. We all have our types.
As a guy, Taylor isn’t my style physically but to say she’s unattractive is completely untrue, unhinged and you definitely have a strange, odd, jealous reaction to Taylor that’s just unhealthy and you’d hang with her in a second if you ever got a chance. You’re completely obsessed and jealous of her which is just pathetic.

I’m the PP this response was meant for and the reality is I worked in entertainment for many years. I’ve met a wide array of celebrities, some of them are truly fascinating, but many of them are ignorant, uneducated and dull.

No, I would not “hang with” Taylor if given the chance. Just her facial expressions, especially how she opens her mouth too wide, like a hyena ready yo strike, are enough to make me gag. She’s vulgar and uncouth. Plus, I have no interest in spending time in Kansas City with dumb football players. I would, however, love to hang out with Paul McCartney, especially in the Hamptons.
Paul is way to classy for you, and wouldn’t be seen within 50 feet of you, I’m sure. I’ve hung with celebrities, too and they aren’t dull but they are very calculated as to what comes out of their mouth and with social media, who can blame them……

You must know a special brand of celebrities because the majority of ones I know didn’t even finish high school let alone college. As someone with a graduate degree, most of them are very boring and uneducated for me. Besides, I worked with them in a professional capacity before the rise of instagram and twitter, so I doubt they were worried about me posting on social media. They were mostly dumb. (Of course, not all of them, but most.)

I never suggested that Paul would want to hang out with me. I’m certain that he wouldn’t because I have nothing to offer him. I would love to hang out with him because he is a legend. Taylor, on the other hand, is a big no thank you. She’s extremely uneducated. (She falls into the barely graduated high school category.) What would she have to talk about? twitter?
No thank you!

Oh hey there Taylor. I think many on this thread agree. We can fix this so easily! Why don’t you stand down on the PR for a bit? I mean, you already have over a billion dollars, so why continue like this? Donate all the money to schools, nurses, kids, rape victims, homeless etc except for a couple hundred million. Then, boom problem solved!

Shes literally given away tons and boosted the economy of every city she’s performed in and is very gracious and generous with her money. It’s actually been awesome to see a celebrity give back like she does

Hate her all you want based on music, talent, lyrics, whatever, but you absolutely cannot, with a straight face, say she isn't generous. Ask any food bank of any city she plays in - they get like two years worth of funding from her alone. All proceeds of Welcome to New York go the NYC schools. There's a lot she does.

Well, technically it is not in the bank. Just like most billionaires. I agree they should give a lot away, and she is well on her way. And like many billionaires, she employs a ton of people.

I really struggle with this one (not just with Taylor, with any very wealthy person). On the one hand, I don't think you can just waive away those kind of charitable contributions. That money helps people. She doesn't have to give it but she does. I don't want to discourage that and of course no one is required to give all their money away, I'm fine with people being rich. And she seems like a hardworking person, and even though her music is not really my taste, I do like to see artists making money from their art.

On the other hand, I agree that praising someone that wealthy for giving to charity is kind of dumb. I'm sure she feels good doing it, but it's kind for no brainer for her -- benefits her financially, burnishes her image, doesn't cost her anything that actually matters. Also, while she does make money off her art, by the time anyone is that wealthy, the vast majority of their wealth is coming from investments. She also makes a ton of money off merchandising and advertising, and not just selling her music to advertisers but promoting products and selling her name. That aspect of her fortune has basically no social benefit.

So I honestly don't know where I stand on it. Of course fans of hers will fall over themselves praising it (this a major reason she does it) but also the charities themselves no doubt genuinely need the money and who's going to criticize feeding hungry people or donating money to schools.

It feels like an ethical morass to me.

Well, let's put it this way. It's better than her NOT making charitable donations.
