Ladies 55+- Are any of you really sleeping 7 hours?

Anonymous
I just have never been able to. Most women I talk to, a LOT, don't. Between 4 to 6 hours, max being 5.

If you do, what is your secret?

I’m in bed for nine to get seven, according to my fitbit.

What do you think is your major impediment?

Two things. Regular exercise and lavender in a diffuser.

I’m not quite 55, but I sleep 8 hrs a night.

I am 58 and sleep well most nights, which is 7-8 hours a night. I know this isn't normal, but I turn the light out and play solitaire on my phone, which puts me right to sleep. It clears my mind. I often wake around 5:30 to use the bathroom, and depending on the morning and stress can usually sleep another hour after. Occasionally I can't. I know I am lucky.

Also, I don't drink anything after 6 pm

I've always needed 7-8hrs of sleep, but now in perimenopause, even though I'm in bed for at least that long, I wake up often with anxiety and panic attacks and feel like I don't get good quality sleep.

I don't know anyone who sleeps for 5 hours a night, except my husband. For as long as I've known him, he's slept that little, but now he's retired, he takes a nap in the afternoon as well

age 62 and I get 7 hours
I usually get to bed by 10, then up at 5.

And actually, it doesn't matter what time I go to bed, I am always up by 5. So late nights I get less sleep.

If I have a glass or 2 of wine after dinner, I may fall asleep even earlier and get 8 or 9 hours of sleep.

I am 60 and I used to wake up at 3, be up til 5. I think it was stress and cortisol. I sleep much better when I do yoga every day.

I am (late 50s). I got a CPAP earlier this year that shows I get 7.5-8 hours every night. In bed by 9-9:30 (b/c I have to get up at 5:30). Rarely drink alcohol.
[Sidenote: I probably don't need the CPAP. During the sleep study I only had issues while sleeping on my back, and I was only sleeping on my back b/c I had an electronic box strapped to my chest.]

HRT was the fix for me. Major improvement.

According to my Fitbit I slept 8 hours during a 9 hour stretch last night....which is a good night but not so unusual. I am 56.
