How to date while high maintenance?

Anonymous
I’m 31 and really want to marry and have a family. Admittedly, I’m high maintenance. I’m aware but do not plan to change this because that’s what works for me. Am I a lost cause or is this still hope to find a man?

Your best bet is to be yourself. Always go on dates with full makeup, perfect hair, manicure/pedicure, heels, fancy clothing.

Some men really appreciate a girly girl who always looks perfect by their side. Don’t downplay this part of your personality and make sure it is something he appreciates.

I don’t really do makeup, nails, or hair much. My high maintenance is subscriptions, massages, a house cleaner, etc.

I look good but I’m much more low maintenance on that end.

What do you mean by high maintenance? Are you talking about hair and nails or are you emotionally high maintenance?

So you’re a lazy homebody?

Depends what you mean by high maintenance. You can be high maintenance but still go with the flow, fun, and not self absorbed. You just enjoy putting a lot of effort into your looks and who you are.

Or you can be high maintenance where it consumes you, you're snobby, and difficult.

High maintenance like some narcissistic reality TV woman?

Or, high-maintenance like taking pride in yourself and "being your best self"?

If the latter... go for it! Please!!!!

When we lived in Dallas for a few years, we really came to appreciate how much effort people (women in particular) put into themselves just to go to the grocery store. It was refreshing, to be honest. Looking, sounding, smelling, talking like a slob is - frankly - poor manners and disrespectful to everyone around you.

Is this OP? This isn't really high maintenance and shouldn't be getting in the way of you meeting someone. Perhaps your insecurity or whatever makes you think the above somehow makes you all that different is what is the issue.

Well if you're single and can already pay for this stuff by yourself, what's the issue? You find someone similarly aligned and who makes what you make. Are you looking for someone to take over financially?

What kind of subscriptions make one high maintenance?

I work a lot and don’t always feel like grocery shopping for one so I rely on food kits like Hello Fresh. I still eat healthy but don’t have to buy a bunch of ingredients and food that will go to waste.

I like massages. I like traveling. I like going out to try new restaurants and wine tastings.

I’m a homebody at times but enjoy being out and social.

I dress well and put myself together but I’m not overly high maintenance when it comes to that. My high maintenance is I hate grocery shopping and rely on meal kits to eat. I prefer delivery over cooking. I like massages. I like fancy vacations. I like trying new restaurants.

I’m worried a man will see a 31 year old who has added expenses and refuses to cook unless necessary.
