Enjoy protesting at columbia! |
This is normal for the SEC |
This s why I say the T12 or so vary considerably in student body. In my eyes it’s a huge positive, but I realize that varies. |
What kind of a world do we live in where women stop worrying about jewelry and shoes and protest about ideas and values... |
Yuck. |
Agree, this is not something to be proud of. |
If this is just for one game day, no biggie. Women are allowed to have fun, enjoy shoes and jewelry.
I don't think these girls are like that every day. They probably are from rich families. Talking about shallow, I think sports in a college is even more shallow. |
I couldn't understand why a college spends $100 million to build a stadium. Could anything be shallower than that?
It has nothing to do with academics. Recruiting a large number of athletes. So called "school spirit" is really really stupid, drinking, hazing, sexist traditions. No one criticizes that. |
while the video is total cringe, I dont get the Columbia quote. |
There are more than 7000 undergrads at Vanderbilt. The instagram, sorority, dress up for football students are just a a tiny percentage of the overall school. I suspect there's one person on this forum that really doesn't like Vandy. Because every day there's a new thread about Vanderbilt. And today they are really reaching. |
I think the implication is that Southern women are hot, sexy, and well dressed and Columbia women are scruffy and demanding. Hence the protest referencing. OP, if not a troll, may believe the social purpose of college is to be surrounded by hot girls. I would remind OP that the university is a medieval institution that emerged from a need to educate clerics. Also, I think short skirts and cowboy boots are a really tacky lewk. |
When we visited Vanderbilt, it's not that different from other t20 schools. I noticed students (yes female students too!) walking by in very fast pace on campus, going to classes and what not. No make-ups. It gives off a studious vibe. |
I was going over college list with rising senior yesterday and we were going back and forth with Vandy.
We toured in the summer which was especially dead so we didnt get to see kids. my kid wasn't into it but so hard to say. We were taking a second look. I said, "this is a school that my 20th century experience prejudices me against .. and I know that's a me thing. I just think white, blonde, shallow. I need to get past that - but you need to make a call on this one." And now this video. |
LOL/ I live in nyc and there are plenty of Columbia kids who are living their best lives. OP would be impressed by the glam if OP understood real glam. Not as much fast fashion, strip mall jewelry (trust that these Vandy girls got pandora necklaces 5 years ago and a Tiffany locket in 4th grade ..because they all wear the same thing at the same time for their entire lives), and boots from Amazon. |
