I was just passing through Wisconsin Madison a week ago. There was a huge country concert in town. Miranda Lambert and Morgan Wallen. The co-eds out and about were dressed like this. I noticed the vibe before I understood that it was due to an event. I think more delicate shoes are prettier with short skirts.

Ha! I was at that concert - country music uniform. Those were Wisconsin (and surrounding area) country music kids, not really kids who go to school in Madison.

NP. I think short skirts need baseball socks and chunky brogues.

Have you not seen sorority rush OOTDs from the different SEC schools (and beyond)? Much more $$ than this shows.

What strikes me as really funny is that I graduated from there in '88. I vividly remember wearing a mini-skirt and "city" cowboy boots (purchased in Milan, haha) to games. I wonder if they think this is a new fashion?

People on here are horrible snobs. And you’re raising your children that way? They’re watching and listening to how you judge. Gross.

OP raised a tacky question and an insult in the first place.

Hot weather means boots are not the coolest choice.

Cowboy boots are pointy for jabbing your horse to keep him moving and tall for keeping you from sinking into mud and manure (and maybe avoiding bites). They are not cooling footwear.

You get a horse to keep moving by digging pointy-toed boots into them? I thought they were pointy to make it easier to get them in stirrups.

Yeah but we’ve always put Vandy into the southern sec school bucket. Vandy has been trying to jump out into a more elite tier.

What is OOTD?
I wish people would use words.

You are correct. I was speaking from my experience wearing them while learning to ride. Since I never roped, the practical mechanics of stirrup design escaped me. Anyway it's pretty funny that they've gotten so sexy-trendy. I grew up in a town with an annual rodeo. Cowboy boots were sold at the feed and tack store. Not at the shoe store. They were pretty for the first few weeks. Until you stepped in "stuff".

No one knows. It can mean mean whatever you want. I have a dog next to me, so I'm going with Outrageous, Over the Top Dog.

I find this thread rather creepy. Think back to your own college days. Would you like it if a bunch of random parents judged your outfits and what you were doing before a football game?

I don't get it. I finally looked at the Instagram post, and there is nothing distinctive about it. Just young women dressing up, like they do just about everywhere.

It has become more elite. It wasn't nearly as hard to get into when I was in HS but has always been pricey.

+1. Seems like a new low even for DCUM, given that these are actual people doing nothing wrong.

They’re not cool? According to who, you? I have a few pair of cowboys boots and get compliments on them when I decide to wear them. Judging college students for wearing cowboy boots is awful. Do better, much better.

PP was referring to temperature.
