I had a very stressful 2 weeks and although I kept up my good eating and working out routine, I definitely indulged with the sweets with all that we had going on. But I wouldn’t compare it to vacation indulgence.
I got on the scale Monday and I was up 4 lbs. Went down 1lb the next day and it’s been stuck there since. Did I really gain 3 lbs and this is my new weight? I’ve usually reset much quicker once I’m back on track. 46 premenopausal so I know it’s going to be much easier to gain and harder to lose. It took months to lose 10lbs. ![]() |
I am in the same position with being up about 4 pounds and am the same age pp. I am starting to cut calories and get in 10k steps. I am going to keep an eye on this thread. I am struggling to lose the weight. I don’t want to do anything drastic but because it’s summer the 4 pounds are A LOT. Winter I could getaway with a couple of extra pounds here or there since I am covered. |
Thanks! I am definitely not one to cut calories to an unmanageable number but I got back on track quickly this week getting a lot of protein and fiber and didn’t go nuts on the weekend or indulge in desserts. I am very active with workouts too. But it’s so frustrating. I am obsessive so it’s been on my mind and I hate seeing that number on the scale. |
Go back to what you were doing before and stay off the scale for a bit.
I lost 40 or 45 pounds over 7 or 8 months a few years back, through cleaning up my diet and exercising regularly. I think I stepped on the scale maybe 6 or 8 times during that whole period. I opted to not be obsessive (no counting calories or tracking anything) due to having an ED when I was younger. I knew I was doing the right things and the weight came off without a lot of stress. I was in my late 40s. |
3-4 pounds is nothing for someone 150lbs or more.
Miiiight be noticeable in someone 100lbs and who is retaining water with extracellular bloat. I can easily lose a pound going for a short jog in hot weather, and then gain 2-3 lbs in water when drinking water after exercise. |
I was around 136-138 for months and then 139 until this weigh in at 142. I’ve managed to go down a pound in a week so I guess I did gain a few pounds that quickly. |
a pound a week is a lot to lose. That's 3500 approximate calories expended beyond base rate, or extra 500 calories a day, about the same as walking 5 extra miles a day, so well done. |
You clearly need Ozempic, you big fatty.
(Get a grip, OP, my weight fluctuates that much in one day, I think you need mental health support if this bothers you so much) |
OMG you are obese. 140+ is MASSIVE. |
I don’t know. That’s why I initially thought it was just from the bad two weeks but not permanent weight gain. But who knows- my hormones are wacky right now. |
To me it feels like a lot. I’m 5’5 and I was able to get back down to 124 after one of my kids but I generally settled at 135 since having kids. I am a lot stronger now. I’ve been lifting weights for several years now and I’m finally seeing some progress with that so I know the scale isn’t accurate about fat vs muscle. |
I am struggling with the aging, hormones, etc. and I’ve always had body image issues. |
Hormones can be hell for sure. Most people overlook their endocrine system when trying to make body changes or treat illnesses in general. Get a regular routine and baseline, and don't worry about minor fluctuations. Real progress is gradual and you notice changes over weeks to months, not days. |
