Lost to Canada. 3 cake walk joke games in pool play at CONCACAF...first real game against Canada. No dice. Who picks these players? Who picks the coach? USA had 5 or 6 "pros" on the roster.

Look the US style of play is big fast physical athletes. This is the college game which is also the ECNL game. There are technically players in the US but the US system pushes them to the side and does not develop that type of talent. The US system does not produce or rely on technical players like the rest of the world does. When you have never played against a technical team with a higher speed of team play you get beat.

The national youth team wins are not important. The important thing is to continually replace older players on the national with new talent. Playing a system that depends on big, fast and physical mean you need to stay young. Any player over 26 really has to be looked at hard. Over 30 no way. If they do that they will always be in contention. Let the rest of the world play the beautiful game.

They lost to an inferior Canadian team. They looked small and slow. Emma Hayes has the full team playing her style already. Need to stop picking the same players every tournament in the youth teams. U20's don't look big or fast. Chloe Ricketts, Kennedy Fuller etc. are 5 foot 1 and are the face of the team as "pros". Makes ZERO sense. There are better players at that age that deserve opportunities.

Of the 20 or so young girls who turned pro...maybe 2 of them look legit so far. The girl for the Spirit unfortunately is a total miss...I actually feel bad for her when I watch her play. I'd love to talk to the people that thought it was a good idea to push her "pro" path at 15. Totally ridiculous, there are girls in the DMV the same age playing club that are better.

Thank you for a good post. She should not be blamed. She was a child when the decision was made. Whatever adults told her to go pro, were looking for clout. I know of one DMV area under 19 team that she wouldn’t even make the starting 11 for.

If you are developing professional soccer players it is only the top 2-3% who play after 16-18. So that would mean the only 2-3% of the girls/women playing now in ECNL/GA and college would be playing. Professional soccer has a much higher wash out rate because the bar is much, much higher.
