Horrible experience with AirBNB.

I booked an AirBnB for this weekend. They immediately started harassing me for everyone in my family to submit a photo ID and fill out a PdF form. This form also asks very intrusive questions like who is my employer.

Also none of this was in the listing, it was just after the fact.

I filled out one form for the entire family and submitted IDs. Now they are saying everyone needs to fill out the PdF and they will not accept my 21yo step daughter’s ID because it is a temporary ID (she lost hers and we are waiting on the new one).

We are traveling all day and I’m terrified we’ll arrive and be told we can’t stay and they’ll refuse a refund.

Anyone been through this?

Why are you using them!????

No one with brain cells uses them it’s financiallly ignorant.

No way I’d give them all of that info

Where are you going that they are that safety(?) concerned? Is your party large and/or unrelated? Odd and intrusive requests for a family unit.

I’d cancel and book something else. They sound like drama.

I've used AirBnB in the US and Europe, and no one has ever asked for my guests' information beyond number and age range. Before you arrive, you need to politely ask why they need this, given that this is not an AirBnB requirement. Explain your child's situation.

Hopefully you can be let into your rental, but regardless of whether you are or not, after it's over, you need to file a formal complaint to AirBnB. If you're let into the rental, you will be able to write a review and deduct stars for this requirement. Explain concisely for the benefit of other readers, that asking for this information is not an AirBnB requirement, is a breach of privacy, posed an administrative burden, and felt unwelcoming and intrusive. And that you lodged a complaint with AirBnB. You will get a bad review in return, but it's worth it.

I stayed in a couple of places in Europe and they asked for passport information for everyone. But we were also able to provide this info upon arrival, and they didn’t ask for employer information. This is indeed quite intrusive.

As an AirBnB host, and as a frequent guest, this is crazy. No host should be asking for this.

I've asked for names of people for the simple reason that I wanted to verify who they said was coming. This way if different people came and there was an issue at least I had a record of the names given to me.

I'm pretty sure you have to give names at a hotel as well. Seems reasonable to me to at least take down names.

This! No one uses airbnb anymore. They can film you and you can't sue them or anything it's in your agreement with them.

I have been asked for ID, passport scans, separate/additional leases—this is not that uncommon.

Is this intentional? We have travelled to Europe many times and only been asked for this in Asia. This may be related to the local govt. In fact in asia they may ask where you are staying and the hotel and Airbnb must be registered with a special visa id

Did the listing say it was required? I think they can ask if it’s in the listing.
