Horrible experience with AirBNB.

AirBnB is like everything else. Works well for awhile and then it doesn't.

It was nice while it lasted but I am back to hotels and always booking direct and usually only for one night. That way if it wasn't a good choice, I can move along.

And stay away from third party sites - like Booking - they are the plague, full of scammers now.

No you don't.

Yes you do and each room needs a separate person making the reservation. If you were say staying in four hotel rooms, four different people would have to give their information including a credit card. You also have to put the ages of the people staying with you and how many.

Where is the airbnb? Are you still within the timeframe to cancel?

+1.

I’ve been doing Airbnb for about ten years and every now and then you run into someone who is absolutely is not meant for hosting. (As in, intensely paranoid and intrusive, crazy rules, etc.) This sounds like one of them. I’d cancel and find a new place ASAP.

New poster. Where do you book with these strange rules? Never had issues booking 2 hotel rooms. And never needed to add names other than mine, except when it was someone else checking in before I arrive.

So when you stay at a beach hotel with friends, you just book their rooms for them and take responsibility for their stuff? I doubt you've ever booked a room and taken responsibility for anyone who was not in your family.

I wouldn’t be comfortable with giving this information to a host who asked for it if the initial listing didn’t specify it would be required.

It matters if this is in the US or another country. They required passports in Italy last summer but it was stated on their listing that they would be asking for this. Employer info is over the top.

NP here and not a fan of AirBnB, and I’m not sure why the hotel comparison is relevant, but tons of people book a hotel room that they’re going to split with a friend. More relevant is that tons of people, including me, also sign leases for vacation homes which will house large groups, not all of whom are family members. This is how we vacationed for years pre-kids and when our kids were little - with 5/6 other couples in a gigantic house. No one asked for names of the other parties, much less needed IDs or other information that should be kept private in almost all circumstances.

It’s the employer question that is ridiculous not acceptable

OP what are you still using them?

Just get a hotel room,

Np no this is not a thing. Where are you staying? You might want to find a new place to book through since thats highly unusual and very strange.
