Interval training (ex. Sprint8) - too good to be true?

Anonymous
Anyone done exercise like this? If I could do this a few times a week and see results that would be amazing but wondering if it’s too good to be true?!

That's called HIIT and has been around for decades in the bodybuilding community who doesn't want to do low intensity endurance cardio due to muscle loss from that, so they discovered HIIT decades ago.

It’s good for your heart.

This is just another form of HIIT.

The most extreme and effective high intensity workouts are wind sprints. That is what high level athletes/military special forces do.
But normal people should not do that level of exercise due to potential death if you have underlying conditions you do not know about.

Everything below that is a safer version for normal humans known as HIIT. the program here is switching the ratio of rest to higher intensity shorter intervals.

I personally do HIIT 9 months out the year but it does wear on your body so I need time off to let my joints recover over the holidays.

More intense and shorter may work - just have to try it.

Also HIIT works very well. For me it takes about 2 months of doing it to see stomach flatten and body really change. After 4 months near visible abs and entirely defined on upper body.
Then your body gets incrementally better but by month 7 or 8 is when things start hurting occasionally and I know my body needs a break.

These programs work but you cannot do them everyday. You need about 48 hours or more after a session for your body to recover.
If you are able to do another session in a day you are not doing it right or intense enough and wasting time and won’t see results.

First, you have to be in decent enough shape to handle it. If you're comfortable jogging a few miles, then adding in some sprints and then building up gradually is reasonable. If you have trouble jogging for 10 minutes, start by building that up.

Second, you have to work hard. That means it is going to hurt. Some people would rather work hard and be gasping for breath and get it over quickly; others would rather take more time but stay at a moderate level.

NP here - are there any online HIIT workouts folks would recommend?

Programs like this or other HIIT systems are how actors get in shape fast for movie roles, or fitness models etc.

Along with professional dietitians and trainers you get actors to play Thor a pilot in top gun with their shirt off looking ripped.

Like anything with the words “high intensity” one should take caution.
Unless you are in good shape already there is probably no way you could do a 20-30 minute HIIT workout without throwing up or injuring yourself. So if you want to try it use short intervals (like 15 seconds of exercise and 15 seconds of rest) and after a few months you may reach 45 seconds of exercising and 15 seconds of rest.

I am going to do his 30 minute no equipment one and see how it goes.

I have been doing HIIT for a while and am intimidated after watching the program.

Thanks for posting.
