How are some parents okay with this?

How are some parents okay with teens waking up at 1 pm doing Summer Vacation?

What else should they be doing?.

My parents were lucky if I got out of bed by 1pm over the summer, and I'm a well adjusted, productive member of society. I don't think it matters that much.

Same. I get up at 5:30am now.

My parents were extreme jerks about what time I woke up as a teen and in college (when i was home during summer and breaks). I made straight A's, went to a great school, had great internships and was a good daughter. Why the heck were they hassling me for not waking up by 9am on my days off?? My mom had a bugle she'd play. I'm still angry about this.

She told me I'd get it when I had my own kids, but they're in middle school now and all wake up at the crack of dawn still. I wish they'd sleep in.

Parents pick fights over the dumbest things

My kids got up for school themselves starting in fourth grade made their own lunches and picked their own clothes

They wanted to work over the summer but I could care less if they slept til one on days off or breaks etc.

Bed time in my house once they got up MS was up to them. Never had an issue. Never had to wake a kid up for school,
In college I had one that took 8 am classes others took late day classes still straight A students

My teens need to have jobs or be otherwise occupied in some kind of constructive manner. If their job allows them to sleep until 1pm, great for them.

+1. I'm the person who said he regularly slept that late as a teenager and I had a job, it was just in the evening. I worked a night shift at a telemarketing place and then stayed up until daybreak playing video games and went to bed. It's a not lifestyle I would enjoy as an adult, but at 16 it worked fine.

I'm a mother to a 16 and totally don't care if he sleeps in until 1. I have more important things to worry about. Plus I did it too at his age and have been a productive member of society my whole life.

They literally have another 50 years to work after they graduate..I think it will be okay.
