Apparently we're getting CogAT this week

Just received this email:

2nd and 3rd Grade Families,

In December 2024, your child completed the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT). The CogAT Student Profile Narrative Report will be uploaded this week in ParentVue.

To support families in understanding the Ability Profile Report, MCPS created a set of instructions linked below:

CogAT Score Report Parent Caregiver Letter

Understanding Student Profile Narrative Report

If you have any questions about your child's results or how they are used, please email the Accelerated and Enriched Instruction (AEI) office at AEIQuestions@mcpsmd.org and provide your student's full name, school, and MCPS ID number with your inquiry.

Oh that's great news, thanks for sharing! (Did not get that email but I assume they will upload it for everyone.)

Thank you! I didn't get that email yet either but it's good to know something is coming soon.

caregiver letter is up in parentvue. but not the narrative report...which my school send a link to, but which does not open.

What do they use the score for m

Gifted and talented identification… which does nothing.

But my kid was already identified so I didn’t get a letter. I just want her scores as I’m hoping we can use them for JHU CTY so she doesn’t have to take another test

Is that different from the G/T letter? The latter shows percentage but not actual score. But it's all I see in ParentVue (for a second grader).

I got it in mail today. There is no score. Only a percentile of Cogat. DS got 95. What does this mean? 95% of all second graders in MCPS?

Just use the MAP tests

It means your child scored better than 95% of all same-aged students who took the test.

What is the point of doing CoGAT for all kids if the G/T identification has no implications for McPS?

The CogAT report will be more detailed than just the percentile in the GT letter and all 2nd and 3rd graders should get them… we didn’t get a GT letter since my kid was “identified” last year in 2nd

OP did you get the report yet?

Has anyone received it yet?
Anonymous
I have not (DD identified as gifted last year so maybe that's why?). No report or email

Im the op who posted the email from our ES… nothing posted in ParentVue yet
