Anyone have an "InBody" scan? Is this accurate?

My body fat percentage was at almost 34%, which seems off to me. If you've had one of these done, do you feel like it's accurate?

Here's my general stats: 44 female, 5'3", 130lbs, 23 BMI, very active, size 4-6 (smaller in waist, larger in thighs). 32DD breasts. I've strength trained regularly 1-2 days a week for a decade, do a variety of other cardio. Workout 6 days a week.

Percent body fat: 33.8 (!!) or body fat mass of 44.2lbs (!!!)
SMM (skeletal muscle mass): 46.8
Lean body mass: 86.4 lbs
Visceral fat: 9 (I'm told this is on the high end)

Looking at myself, could I lose a few lbs? Sure - but I would never want to lose more than 5lbs max. I feel like i look pretty fit, have a defined waist, and a pretty nice balance of muscle and healthy body fat.

34% does seem high for how you describe yourself. Did you stand on the machine correctly? Your arms shouldn't touch your body etc

My doctor's office does on of these on my several times a year because I'm on Wegovy.

It has seemed accurate to me, and has changed in the ways that would be expected for someone losing weight on the medication I'm on.

I use a dexa scan, and given my own stats, this doesn’t seem wildly off.

Where do I’m you get something like this (or a dexa scan) done?

I was shocked by my results. I sound like you OP in terms of fitness etc. I was wondering if maybe my larger chest accounted for the bulk is the fat?

Op here: I did it at my gym.

As for "doing it right," I don't know. My arms weren't down my side, but they weren't fully outstretched. Were they supposed to be? I've never done one of these scans before. I just find it hard to believe that my body fat is that high (technically "obese" I think), with good muscle mass (which I believe because I see it on my build), but also have a normal BMI.

The machine suggested I lose 17lbs of fat, which would be insane.

I am hesitant to ever do this. I already obsess over the scale. If I knew how much actual fat was on me I’d probably be depressed for days!

Don't do it. I'm not scale obsessed, but I'm still bothered by it.

If you feel good and feel strong and your doctor isn't concerned, then that's sufficient.

I wonder if my large chest (36F) also affects the body fat percentage. I’ve lost 40 lbs in the past 9 months but only down one cup size.

The Inbody test should be done first thing in the morning before you eat. And hopefully you would have gone to the bathroom already. Yo really need to repeat these monthly to see a trend. Of course, similar clothes each time and time of day. Stand on the machine with your arms outstretched and not touching your body.

I find them on target. The BMI don't pay attention to, it's not as reflective of health as % body fat. The stat of most concern is your visceral fat %. How were your measurements by segment? Are you able to fully support your body weight? May flag down a trainer to help you with a redo and explain the numbers.

My stats were similar to yours 2 years ago. I was okay looking but honestly I didn't know how much healthier I would feel at a lean muscled 116.

I’m 3” taller and weight the same and I’m probably 30% fat. Seems right to me.

I have had these done and they values can vary based on things like hydration. I also think that having it done a few time and averaging results is more accurate

I have InBody at my gym. Forget the actual numbers. Do it once every month or two, and look at the _change_ in numbers over time. That's your best measure.
