Prestige + Georgetown

Where does it rank? Not HYPSM obviously but I'd put it with the next level (Columbia, Penn, Brown, Duke). The 12% acceptance rate seems generous but predictions are it will go into low single digits next year with the Common App.

Nope. Next level below those. Which is still great. But not on par with them.

Great in its unique way. Georgetown doesn't have an outstanding engineering program. Other than that, finance, prelaw, IR, even premed are really good.
For engineering/math kids this is a very low tier school. For everything else, I would place it above Cornell, which has the best engineering/agriculture/hotel programs among ivies.
We have a kid this year choose Georgetown over Stanford.

^not my own kid. A kid from school.

Not quite.

Solid T25 which is good enough.

Is this gloomy mix? If you’re on Reddit at all, you’ll know.

Who cares? Rankings are for the ignorant. It's a great school. Has its pros and cons. I rank it Pi times 1.731842. And that 2 at the end is crucial.

Don't be a lemming. Visit the school and make up your own mind. And where your kid is happy, not where others are telling your kid to be happy. Or where USN&WR tells you to be happy. Or worst yet, where the losers of DCUM tell you to be happy.

It’s in the same tier as Notre Dame, Boston College, and Holy Cross. Good Catholic schools with strong reputations among the non-Catholic community in the United States. Villanova would be a tier above all four schools given their basketball program and pipeline into the Vatican.

Georgetown is very strong in some areas and weak in others. SFS, business, biology/pre med, philosophy, and nursing are top notch. Physics, math, chemistry, computer science, art, music, psychology and most other majors are very weak and small departments. There is no engineering department, major or even courses.

It's the Bucknell booster again! Not even in the same league as Georgetown, let alone above it. Stop trying to make Bucknell happen!

No. Georgetown is significantly better, with a worldwide reputation and situated in DC.

This is…a ridiculous take.
