My High school child mentioned that colleges are now looking for research papers for admissions. If anyone here can please explain the process, as we are not familiar with it, thank you for your help. |
My DC submitted one that was published. she participated in in the research and the head researcher put her in the byline for her contribution. The instructions from the institution had indicated what type of materials they would consider for submission and published research was on that list. |
It's very common for things like art portfolios. Read the instructions carefully and see if you can get some guidance. |
High schoolers don’t need to do research to get into college. Publish or perish is for professors. |
Just submit a research paper they wrote in high school, it doesn’t need to be published research. |
Research papers are common for art portfolios? I feel like I must’ve missed a step or two in what you’re trying to convey here. |
Sorry. I just meant there are sometimes more detailed instructions for submitting additional materials along with the application. |
HS kids writing papers now? What a complete joke. |
They do have to write so many papers now. Especially in an IB program. If there's a really notable one or something very relevant to the application you could include it. Hard to know if it will actually be considered unless it's specifically requested. |
No |
This is what we did OP. |
Oh these are essays that contain research. |
Oh, thank you, that makes sense. I think I needed coffee. ![]() |
There are several high school online journals where they can publish. I just don’t know which professors refer to a high school journal |
High school journals are predatory. Please just let them be kids. Research is for professors. |
