I’m flying LAX to SYD next month, and dreading the 15.5 hr flight. Considering just knocking myself out with benzos to get through it. Does anyone else do this? Any downside? |
Are you flying alone? |
With my husband. |
How about reading a book or listening to a podcast? |
Yeah OP hadn't thought of those... ![]() |
Not for me, I'd like to be alert in case I need to be. If you take these regularly for sleep, do that. But I wouldn't take more than your usual dose. |
Glass of 🍷? |
+1 I know how I react to benadryl so would do that to cover some of the flight. Some would be movies. I have to mix it up. I like getting all the meals too even though I don't eat much. |
Depends if you want a DVT or not. I wouldn't do it. You need to get up and walk around. |
DH cannot sleep on flights at all. For our honeymoon to Asia he took some Tylenol PMs, like 6 glasses of wine, and still stayed awake suffering. That’s obviously not the recommended usage but he thought it would work :/
So no tips, but don’t do that. |
I was prescribed a generic for Atarax for my pre travel anxiety to take on as needed basis.
Took half a pill before my last flight, was a little slower than usual but still got thru security ok, and then had a nice blissful sleep (stretches of sleep but still better than usual) on my red eye. I am going to do the same in the future! |
Get off the drugs lady. |
Add some booze and you will wake up before you knew you took off. ![]() |
Or die of an overdose? Benzos wouldn’t make me sleep but I guess would make it more tolerable. I’d probably prefer a few drinks. |
My Godmother sat next to someone on a long-haul flight who died from a DVT. They hadn't moved for the whole flight.
Don't do that to yourself. |
