No WL movement---done

WLs all done. None came through.

DC is heading to a school w/ 80% admit. Stats, awards, research and still waitlisted everywhere. Transfer plans are in the works. Anyone else in the same boat?

Her waitlist schools all closed their waitlists?

Sure, some claim they’re “open.” But it’s May, no word, and we got a “don’t expect movement” email. She’s off to the safety and we're focusing on the future.

Why don’t you share details so next year’s parents can learn from this? Do you expect us to feel bad for you if you aren’t interested in paying it forward?

Do not go to any school planning to transfer. If you are really that extreme, take a gap year and get it right (and right undoubtedly means lowering expectations early so there is a better outcome in the end).

He wasn't waitlisted "everywhere." He was accepted to at least one school. Instead of assuming that the school isn't good enough for him, based solely on its admissions rate, and planning to transfer, I would encourage him to make a home there, join activities, and connect with professors -- make the best out of being a big fish in a small pond.

I’m sorry! Hope things shake out okay. I understand if you don’t want to rehash everything here now, but what would you have done differently if you could go back? Were the target schools too out of reach?

If she is “only” in at a school with 80 percent acceptance rate, did she apply to all the great schools out there with 40-60 percent acceptance range? Or was it all chomping at T25/50?

Given that the transfer circus has already begun before the poor kid has even enrolled, I think the answer to this is obvious.

Some waitlists will go well into June.

That said, focus on the safety.

name the schools or don’t post - this is a waste of our time without you naming the schools. Cardinal rule of DCUM, name the school or don’t bother

Plenty of solid acceptances on that list of eight schools! I don’t know why you suggested the student was only admitted to one safety school.

Your kid couldn’t get excited about PSU or Syracuse? I don’t see the need to focus on transferring under these circumstances? The post feels kind of deceptive, it’s not as dire as suggested.

You win DCUM post of the day.

You're creating a problem for your child. That list of accepted schools is fantastic. Work on celebrating the school they committed to, rather than holding out hope for the waitlists.
