Premier AC is filling the CCL slot for the 2007 Girls.

Thanks. I think I had read previously that Premier AC was filling in. However, I somehow assumed that PAC was for one of the 2008 Girls slots (and not 2007). I take it that no teams is currently filling in for the 2008 Girls (based on the results/standings on the new and improved CCL website).

And as with the PAC boys team that's filling in, LMVSC is getting the "credit" at GotSoccer and YouthSoccerRankings.

Not that it's a huge deal, but it's just a strange oversight.

Tournaments that require applications are smart enough to realize it (for both the lmvsc and guest team). I don’t see where else those rankings matter

Tournaments do look at league standings. Even though our GotSoccer ranking is good & highly ranked in VA, we were accepted to Showcase event but placed in a lower flight. The tournament committee stated they made the placement based on our league results not being updated.

Regarding team names for filler teams, they can/should be changed to represent the correct club/team name. I wouldn’t hold your breathe on the name updates, as the club struggles to even update scores for games that have been played.

Most definitely. But I wonder if parents checking out the CCL site would be interested in knowing that those teams are actually PAC teams. Maybe not, but it still seems like such an easy thing to fix.

It is an easy fix, but they won't fix it. You'll only see it when the teams show up.

I hate to rehash this board, but does anybody have an understanding of how the PPP loan works? It turns out we received $188,118:

Oh lawdy please don't tell me we need to pay it back; I don't want to redo team fees again

Since DD is already in the travel program, why am I going to have to pay more money for what is basically the travel program?

Chill. Every club does this. How do you think we ought to maintain and sustain coaches’ bills and loans?

Because LMVSC took out a PPP loan and has to pay it back

Agreed, this is extra training on top of your team training. It happens during the winter and summer at every club. Kids usually like this is because it often a different coach and kids that are doing it so it feels different than team practice. I won't be signing up my DC because it conflicts with his team practices and he enjoys going to those.

OP here... I just don’t understand. Why would I have to pay more money? I thought the whole idea of the academy program was to produce elite or top-level players?

Not sure I understand the question. If you're saying programs like this should be free because the club is supposed to be producing top-level players, I'd say there's a ceiling to how far you can go if you're at a club like LMVSC. Very few players are going to play Division I college soccer from there. Close to 99% of "elite" players (future pros or players at top colleges) will be at programs that are in the top levels of youth soccer (MLS Next for boys, ECNL and GA for girls) or have teams that have gained spots in the USYS National League.

It's taken decades of groundwork to get any free academies in this country at all. Now we have a couple dozen, maybe even a few dozen. Nationwide.

If that's not what you're asking, and you're simply annoyed that the club is trying to upsell you ... well, that's capitalism for you. And youth soccer capitalism. This just isn't a country in which coaches are parents with "B" licenses. (See Iceland and Germany for that.)

PP was being sarcastic, LMVSC moved to an 'academy model' that a lot of people view as a cynical way to cover up not having multiple teams at all levels. The pitch was also extra practice time, and now they're charging for extra practice time

OP here on the "why do I have to pay the travel program more money to be a travel player". Not being sarcastic, JLC said the academy model is the way to go. Admittedly, maybe he's just scrapping the academy idea without telling us he's scrapping the academy idea. It's become clear to me this "winter training" is just a money grab.

That, or apparently my DC's coach hasn't been teaching DC how to be a striker, goalkeeper, athlete, etc.

First time in travel, then? Off season clinics have been a thing for years...predating the current TD's arrival.
You'd probably also complain about paying extra for futsal, if the club were participating this year.

No. In fact, the old travel used to have training year round without extra costs. Apparently we’re going to do the Alexandria model and nickel and dime to the tune of hundreds of dollars.

Try thousands of dollars, it’s getting ridiculous.
