She sure did. I'm going to watch it again with my teenage kids tomorrow. A lot to be learned from her thoughtful, fact-based speech. What a nice change that she could present her ideas without all the emotion. She laid it out like a lawyer would.

One hopes your children have a better BS detector than you have.

You all have not only jumped the shark, but jumped the Pacific. It’s just crazy insane.

Do Democrats know how to think rationally without being overtaken by emotion?

Overtaken by emotion? Are you taking about Kavanaugh whose testimony altered between anger and crying?

What's Suz Collins gonna do when her granddaughter possibly has an unexpected pregnancy at 15 like my SIL or my supreRepublican antiabotion relative who DID have an abortion at 15 but now rails against it for anyone else or my college roomie who had 2!! Abortions at 18/19 and now Christian homeschools her daughters?! WTF? So you CAN set your course straight but no one else can. What's funny is my SIL had her baby at 15 and is pro choice. The other two had an abortion(s) and are virulently antiabortion. Senator Collins is a TRAITOR to women.

Maybe the MT senator will skip the vote thinking they are all set, then Sasse or Munchin feel guilty and flip their projected vote. Suddenly, they see what the legal scholars see and they realize the significance of the vote and change their mind.

I also experienced a sexual assault before age 18. I’d like to say I was at the Capital today with my story, and making my voice heard, but I wasn’t. I’m not strong enough or brave enough to talk about it. The only people I have been able to tell are my husband, my therapist and my best friend. My husband and best friend know that I was assaulted, but not the details. My therapist knows the details because I have written them down. I can’t talk to her about it. So I write to her about it. I still can’t say the words 25 years later. I still have nightmares.

What Susan Collins did today was cruel. She could have been a yes all along and not created the buildup. She could have left it at announcing a yes this morning, like Flake or Sasse, and moved on without the drama. I hate their decisions, but they weren’t personal they way Collins’s was. She could have discussed his record and their discussions..
I really don’t understand why Susan Collins would say she believes Dr. Ford— except she doesn’t believe the part about the attempted rape. That she believes sexual assault is important— just not important enough to actually do anything. While making a production of being the person responsible for ramming Kavanaugh through Congress. Her speech was an extra special f#ck you to #MeToo.

I wouldn’t understand the cruelty if a man did it either. But it seemed more personal coming from a woman. I saw a tweet that called it worlds slowest, longest middle finger to sexual assault survivors. And it was.

This is certainly why I have never been able to talk about it. Because I know that she’s saying what most people think.

It was very hard to hear Dr. Fords testimony, and it has been a hard ten day. Susan Collins made sure the knife was jammed in as far as possible and twisted.

These are liberal tears. Literally. This lib concedes. I have been owned. Congrats. I hope you feel better than I do.

I am so, so sorry. Hugs and holding you in the light.

I'm so glad I didn't watch Collins speech - and so sorry for what happened to you - and so grateful that you talked about it here - people need to more hear about the effects that abuse has..

I am sorry too, but it was not Brett Kavanaugh’s fault. He is not the scapegoat for every woman’s sexual assault.

Scapegoat? He isn't even having to take responsiblity for the sexual assaults he has committed!

I sure as hell would NOT want you on a jury even if my worst enemy was on trial.

BTW, I wanted a moderate that rule based on the Constitution. I abhor all of this partisan bs.

She never said it was BK's fault -- she's complaining about Susan Collins.

PP here and I myself would not have an abortion or want my daughter to have one. But IF she at 17 decided to would SUPPORT her choice and also support her choice to have an infant.

Go away. You're not wanted here.

Donald Trump Jr just twatted this out, and much like the supporters on my Facebook feed, can't even spell Kavanaugh's name right:
A real profile in courage from Lyin’ liberal @JoeManchinWV. Waited until Kavanugh had enough votes secured before he announced his support. I bet he had another press release ready to go if Collins went the other way. West Virginia - Vote for #MAGA champion @MorriseyWV! #WVSEN

The fact is, they're all dishonest. Show me one honest person among them. All they can do is vote in their best interests and cover up their lack of moral compass with high-sounding speeches.

That's the lot of a politician. Faustian bargain indeed.

What Dr. Blasey Ford did is not for naught, however. She showed up, she was credible, she was heard. Even though the nominee is going to be confirmed, the cause of women advanced a little, from where it was with Anita Hill. Hopefully the next time this happens, enough people will agree that the accused cannot take the job.
