Malaysia Airlines Flight Goes Missing En Route to China

Could someone have brought a device on board used to block or scramble signals making cell phone use impossible? It seems like terrorists would have to become more and more sophisticated to remain effective in terms of large scale events. There must be a simple explanation like pilot suicide because if this were a criminal act it would be pretty terrifying to know someone could pull this off.


I remember reading something about an African plane that went missing years ago with the assumption it was piracy. Can't remember the nation or details or whether it was fact or another in solved plane crash.

I responded to that before. It is very hard to get cell phone reception on a flight, have you ever tried? The roaming would certainly drain their batteries. I would also imagine that if they indeed did land, it would be in a rural area and cell phone reception would be limited. Eventually, if the passengers are alive, their cell phone batteries would run out of charge.

I don't know why everyone seems to focus on the cell phones. That's just silly.

Much has been made of the fact that no passengers made calls or texted during the final minutes or hours of their flight. Have you seen that mentioned in the news and in this thread?

There were many post in this thread about cell phone not get a singal if there are not towers or too far away to receive and send message. Have you seen that mentioned in the news and this thread? Yet you continue to ignore science.

I think it was hijacked and en route to Australia when it crashed. Didn't the same thing happen to an Ethiopian Airline awhile back. I don't think that one got very far.

Something maybe we can all agree is a little funny - Courtney Love has been scouring satellite images, and thinks she found flight 370. I think there may be holes in her search technique?

I read that and had the same thought as one of the commenters - why would someone who wants to use he plane as a bomb delivery vehicle go through all that trouble to get that plane? You can buy smaller end of life aircraft all over the place (727, 737, etc) and a lot less publicly.
